iPhone 17 officially. A19, MagSafe and 256 GB at a good price!

Calendar 3/3/2026

Apple has showcased a new model from the cheaper iPhone 17e line. The smartphone brings several significant improvements over its predecessor, including the A19 processor, support for MagSafe, and increased base storage. The new model targets users who want a current iPhone with strong technological backing but without the flagship price.

A19 on 3 nm and OLED screen 1200 nits

The heart of the device is the new Apple A19 chip made using a 3 nm process. It offers a six-core CPU, a four-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine optimised for machine learning tasks and AI functions. The smartphone features a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits. The panel has received an improved anti-reflective coating and Ceramic Shield 2 protection. Standard versions are available with 256 GB and 512 GB of storage, as Apple is dropping the 128 GB option as the base model.

48 MP and Dolby Vision in 4K

The iPhone 17e still uses a single rear camera, but it features a 48 MP Fusion Camera with 2× telephoto zoom support. By default, photos are saved in 24 MP. It includes night mode, portrait mode, and enhanced HDR to improve skin tone representation. Videos can be recorded in 4K 60 fps with Dolby Vision, as well as spatial audio compatible with AirPods and Apple Vision Pro. A new feature is wind noise reduction based on machine learning, aimed at improving the quality of outdoor audio recordings.

MagSafe, new modem and iOS 26

The model features the C1X modem, which Apple claims is up to 2× faster and 30% more energy-efficient than the previous C1. The company does not disclose the battery capacity but states it will last all day under typical usage. It comes equipped with MagSafe with 15 W Qi charging, satellite communication, and Crash Detection functionality. The iPhone 17e runs on iOS 26 with a new Liquid Glass interface. It also supports Apple Intelligence features such as Live Translation in Messages, FaceTime, and phone calls, Call Screening, and Hold Assist.

The device will be available in black, white, and light pink. Pre-orders start on March 4 in the USA, UK, Canada, China, and India, with shipping beginning on March 11. The price is 599 dollars for 256 GB and 799 dollars for 512 GB. Prices in Poland start from 2999 zł.

iPhone 17e is an evolutionary yet sensible upgrade: a stronger processor, more memory, MagSafe, and an improved modem without raising the starting price. For many users, this could be the most cost-effective iPhone in Apple's current lineup.
