Apple is preparing for one of the most important updates to its iOS in years. The upcoming iOS 27 is set to introduce a wide range of artificial intelligence-based features that will be part of the evolving Apple Intelligence ecosystem. A few weeks before the WWDC 2026 conference, the first details have leaked online, and they promise some significant changes to everyday use of the iPhone.
AI starts to understand the world around the user
One of the most interesting elements is the development of Visual Intelligence features. The iPhone will soon allow for scanning food product labels to automatically analyse the ingredients and nutritional values. This could be particularly useful for people who are health-conscious, especially if the feature is integrated with Apple’s health apps. Another new feature is the ability to scan a business card and automatically save the contact to the phone. It’s a minor change, but very practical in true Apple style, which often focuses on streamlining everyday tasks.
Smarter apps and less manual work
Artificial intelligence will also be coming to the Safari browser. The system will automatically analyse open tabs and group them with relevant names, making organisation easier. For example, if you're browsing computer hardware, iOS will automatically name the group according to the content. Major changes are also on the way for Apple Wallet. A new feature will allow you to scan physical tickets or cards and convert them into digital equivalents stored on your phone. This is another step towards complete digitalisation of the wallet, where the smartphone replaces most physical documents.
iOS 27 is shaping up to be a significant step by Apple towards AI that genuinely helps with daily tasks, rather than just looking good in presentations.
