EA SPORTS NHL 27 offers EA Play subscribers a 10-hour trial as part of early access. Players can use it to check out the main additions in this year’s hockey instalment before deciding whether to buy. One of the biggest changes is the Connected Franchise mode, which lets you create your own league with up to 32 teams run by real players. The developers have also revamped the broadcast presentation and all 32 NHL arenas. Players who later buy the full game will retain their progress from the trial.

New Connected Franchise mode lets you create your own league

The biggest new feature in NHL 27 is Connected Franchise, an expanded mode designed for competing with friends. Players can create their own league, put together teams and manage them through a full online season. Up to 32 human managers can participate, so each team can be controlled by a different player. The mode also allows you to set your own league rules. Users receive tools for managing rosters, among other things. It’s also possible to plan the match schedule yourself. Additional tools for the league commissioner handle organising the competition. The developers want to give players more control over how the season unfolds. Competitions can be tailored to your preferences instead of relying solely on a predefined structure. Besides team management, the most important part remains direct on-ice competition. Connected Franchise is therefore intended to combine team-management elements with classic player-versus-player matches. The whole system has been designed as a foundation for running your own league across a full season. EA Play lets you try this mode before deciding whether to buy the full version of NHL 27.

All NHL arenas have received a refreshed presentation

NHL 27 is also set to better capture the atmosphere of real games thanks to revamped arenas for all 32 NHL teams. Each venue has been prepared to better reflect the character and traditions of the team it represents. The game features authentic goal songs played after goals and distinctive fan chants. The developers also paid attention to the details of each arena's look. Dynamic lighting and large screens additionally react to events during the game. The changes also extend to the TV presentation of games. EA has prepared a completely refreshed broadcast package with a more contemporary style. New graphics appear before games and during play. Camera work has also been overhauled to better show the on-ice action. The presentation system is designed to provide more information between stoppages in play. Additional packages highlighting the game's key moments are also an important part of the new presentation. EA Play also provides access not only to NHL 27 but to monthly rewards in other EA titles. In September, users can claim rewards for Apex Legends, Madden NFL 27, EA Sports College Football 27 and Battlefield 6.

EA SPORTS NHL 27 is now available to try with a 10-hour trial period for EA Play subscribers. The biggest addition is Connected Franchise, which lets you create an online league for up to 32 players. The game also features rebuilt arenas for all NHL teams and a new broadcast presentation. Progress from the trial will carry over if you buy the full game, and EA Play members also get an extra 10% off EA digital purchases.
