AOC is preparing a new monitor for demanding gamers. The AGON Pro AGP277QKM combines a refresh rate of up to 425 Hz with QD Mini LED backlighting, offering 1,152 local dimming zones. The manufacturer also claims brightness of up to 1,200 nits and DisplayHDR 1000 certification. Is this an interesting alternative to gaming OLEDs?
The new AOC is equipped with a 27-inch Fast IPS panel with WQHD resolution (2560 × 1440 pixels). A 425 Hz refresh rate and a claimed 0.5 ms GtG response time are intended to deliver smooth performance and reduce motion blur, especially in fast-paced esports titles.
1152 Mini LED zones and up to 1200 nits of brightness
One of the monitor’s biggest strengths is its QD Mini LED backlight with 1152 independently controlled zones. The technology is designed to deliver high contrast and deeper blacks while limiting haloing around bright objects. AOC states 1200 nits peak HDR brightness, 700 nits in standard HDR mode and 450 nits in SDR. The panel’s native contrast ratio is 1300:1 and coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space reaches 98%. The monitor has also been certified VESA DisplayHDR 1000. The manufacturer hasn’t forgotten about gamers. It includes AMD FreeSync, a motion blur reduction mode and the ability to display an on-screen crosshair. Users get DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR13.5, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB hub and a headphone jack. The stand allows height adjustment, swivel and tilt.
The AOC AGP277QKM has already appeared in the manufacturer’s Chinese catalogue. For now there’s no word on pricing or a possible European release date.
