YouTube Premium Lite with a major update. Finally, it makes sense.

Calendar 2/25/2026

Not long ago, YouTube Premium Lite in Poland looked like a heavily stripped-down option with no real advantages. Now Google is making changes that significantly increase the value of the cheapest package.

Background Playback and Offline Downloading

The most important new feature is the ability to play movies in the background on phones and tablets. This is a feature that was previously missing and was one of the main reasons users chose the more expensive plan. Additionally, Premium Lite now allows for downloading movies to the device's storage to watch them without internet access. This option will be useful while traveling or in areas with limited connectivity. However, there are exceptions. The changes do not apply to Shorts or music content, including official music videos.

Fewer ads, but not a complete absence

Google also announces a reduction in the number of ads as part of Premium Lite. They will not disappear entirely but will appear less frequently. According to information provided by YouTube, ads will not be displayed among other things. in content related to games, fashion, beauty, or news. They may still appear in music content, Shorts, and during searches. This is a compromise, but at this price, it may be sufficient for many users. The current prices for YouTube Premium in Poland are as follows: YouTube Premium Lite – 17.99 PLN per month, Student Plan – 18.99 PLN per month, YouTube Premium – 29.99 PLN per month, YouTube Premium Family – 59.99 PLN per month. Premium Lite still does not include access to YouTube Music Premium. In this regard, nothing has changed.

YouTube Premium Lite is no longer just a symbolic "lighter" plan. Background playback, offline downloads, and limited ads mean that for 17.99 PLN per month, we get significantly more than before. For those who don't need YouTube Music, this version could become the most cost-effective choice.
