Microsoft and Meta have been developing their collaboration for several years with the goal of allowing players to access the Xbox library on multiple devices. Until now, Meta Quest headset users could access Xbox Cloud Gaming and selected Game Pass features. Now the partnership has been expanded with a new benefit for Meta Horizon+ subscribers. As a result, some users will get access to a special version of Xbox Game Pass as part of their subscription. The solution is intended to make it easier to discover new games without having to buy a separate subscription. The offer includes both major AAA titles and popular indie games.
Meta Horizon+ gains access to Xbox Game Pass Starter
Eligible Meta Horizon+ subscribers can now use the Xbox Game Pass Starter edition. The package provides access to a library of more than 50 games and 10 hours of cloud gaming each month. As part of the service, players can also earn points in the Rewards program for activity in selected titles. Microsoft has put together a varied library that includes action games, cooperative titles, and simulators. Available games include Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Overcooked 2, Grounded, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, and SnowRunner. This lets users try both big-budget productions and smaller games that have proven popular. The new offer complements the existing collaboration between Xbox and Meta, which already includes support for Xbox services on Meta Quest devices.
Microsoft wants to make Game Pass even more widely available
The new initiative fits Microsoft’s strategy of making Xbox games available on as many devices as possible. Instead of limiting the service to consoles, the company is expanding access to Game Pass on PCs, TVs and virtual reality devices. The Meta Horizon+ subscription costs $59.99 per year or $7.99 per month and now also includes access to the basic Game Pass tier in supported markets. Microsoft expects that partnering with Meta will encourage new users to try the Xbox ecosystem. At the same time, players using Meta Quest headsets get another way to access the game library without owning a console. The partnership expansion also shows that companies are increasingly focusing on subscription services and cloud gaming. More similar collaborations may appear in the future.
