Samsung may completely overhaul the naming of its TVs in 2027. Instead of current labels like Neo QLED, OLED, or Micro RGB, the manufacturer would introduce three categories: Basic, Plus, and Ultra. However, that's not the only change the Korean giant is planning.

Samsung TVs like Galaxy smartphones?

According to South Korean outlet ETNews, Samsung is considering simplifying its TV lineup to three main categories: AI TV Basic, AI TV Plus and AI TV Ultra. The split would echo the Galaxy S smartphone naming, where different versions vary by positioning and features.

The most expensive Ultra series would mainly include advanced OLED and Micro RGB TVs. Meanwhile, Basic would focus on cheaper Mini LED models. It's not yet clear which devices would fall into the middle Plus category. The changes would not affect the entry-level Crystal UHD series.

Samsung wants to sell more than 40 million televisions

According to industry sources, the manufacturer also plans to cut production of some TVs that use quantum dots. Mass production of current QD models would end after 2027.

A change in naming could be part of a broader Samsung strategy. The company is said to increase shipments from about 35 million televisions in 2026 to more than 40 million in 2027. At the same time, AI services available via subscription could play a larger role in generating revenue.

So far, Samsung has not officially confirmed these plans. It is also unclear whether the new labels will completely replace the technology names or will simply become a more prominent marketing element.
