The player takes on the role of a helper to the residents of Whisper Town, who need support with moving, cleaning, decorating homes, and setting up shops. But this isn't an ordinary tidying-up game, because the objects in the rooms can tell their own stories. Over 1,800 items and endless interior design possibilities
In Whisper of the House, tidying up rooms is not reduced to performing simple tasks according to a single pattern. The player helps the residents of Whisper Town by, among other things, helping them move into new homes, decluttering, getting shops ready to open, or finding lost pets. Each task also lets you get to know the space's owner better. Room decor is designed so even ordinary objects can hint at their owners. A kept memento might point to an important memory, and an unfinished section of a room might suggest abandoned plans. The game includes over 1,800 furnishing items and more than 10 different house layouts. They let you create book-filled studies, plant-heavy rooms, or more unusual hideouts. Selected furniture, floors, and wallpapers can also be customized in terms of color and texture. The developers also added many small interactions that don't always directly affect tasks. For example, you can start an old record player, squeeze a rubber duck, or pull a single tissue from a box. Detailed sound effects accompany these actions, making ordinary tasks more satisfying. The whole experience is designed so organizing space feels calm while encouraging experimentation.

However, the developers did not limit Whisper of the House to decorating and cleaning alone. While helping the residents, players can come across strange details that suggest Whisper Town hides a larger story. One example is the number 42 appearing in the museum. There are also rumors in town about a mischievous ghost near the well. Players can also discover cracks hiding things that shouldn't be there. Other clues come in the form of letters that, rather than explaining the situation, often raise more questions. The creators call this element of the game "cozy snooping", a calm way of peeking into the residents' secrets. There is no need to rush from one mystery to the next. The secrets are placed in the world so that the most observant players can notice them on their own. The same attentiveness that helps a player place a keepsake in a room can therefore lead to the discovery of something much stranger. An important part of the fun is also creating your own home using acquired furniture and items. There isn't a single right way to decorate it, so you can create a minimalist interior, a room full of decorations, or a completely unusual space. Whisper of the House thus combines relaxing tidying with curiosity and a subtle narrative layer.
