Microsoft is steadily expanding its console-free gaming strategy. The company announced an extension of the Xbox app availability to TVs running VIDAA OS, including selected Hisense models. That means more users will be able to launch games directly from their TV. All you’ll need to play is a controller, a fast internet connection, and an active Xbox Game Pass subscription. The solution is intended to make games more accessible to people who don’t plan to buy dedicated hardware. Microsoft says it will gradually expand the service’s availability.

Microsoft has begun rolling out the Xbox app to VIDAA OS TVs from 2024–2026, including selected Hisense models. With the app, users can stream hundreds of games available through Xbox Game Pass without needing to connect a console. The company emphasizes that the library of titles may vary by region, device, and subscription plan. Available titles include, among others, Forza Horizon 6 and Halo: Campaign Evolved. Saved progress is synced across devices, allowing you to continue gameplay on different platforms. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can also launch certain games they own on their account, even if those games are not currently in the service's catalog. Microsoft notes that the app will arrive on additional TVs with software updates. The rollout is gradual and covers additional markets. The company aims to make cloud gaming available to as many users as possible. The solution is intended to appeal especially to people who don't want to invest in a dedicated console. To use the Xbox app, the TV must run VIDAA OS 9.6 or later. An active Xbox Game Pass subscription in the Ultimate, Premium, or Essential tier is also required. You can use controllers including the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, Xbox Adaptive Controller, and PlayStation's DualSense and DualShock 4. Microsoft also recommends using a fast, stable internet connection. After installing the update, the Xbox app will appear on the home screen or in the "Games" section. Then just sign in to your Microsoft account and pair the controller via Bluetooth. After that, you can start cloud gaming immediately. The company stresses that the app will gradually appear on additional compatible models and in more regions worldwide.
