Sony has expanded its 2026 TV lineup with a new Bravia 6 OLED series. The manufacturer wants to offer self-emissive display technology at more accessible prices than its flagship models. The TVs use WOLED panels and are primarily focused on black level performance, contrast, and brightness control. Among the available options is an 83-inch model, which Sony has not had in its OLED range for several years. The new series may therefore interest both people looking for a large screen and gamers who need modern connectivity.
Sony returns to the 83-inch OLED and focuses on a lower price
The Bravia 6 series has been created as a more affordable line of OLED TVs in Sony's lineup. The manufacturer used WOLED panels here, although the exact type of panel has not yet been confirmed. According to available information, the new TVs should offer the typical advantages of OLED technology, such as very deep blacks and high contrast. They also include support for a 120 Hz refresh rate, which should appeal to people who watch sports and play console games. Bravia 6 will not, however, compete with Sony’s most expensive OLEDs in terms of brightness and color. The Japanese maker will continue to offer more advanced Bravia 8 II models equipped with QD-OLED panels. Particularly interesting is the return of the 83-inch size. Sony last had an 83-inch OLED TV in its lineup with the A80L model from 2023. Later generations of the Bravia 8 series topped out at 77 inches for WOLED. Meanwhile, the Bravia 8 II with a QD-OLED panel is available at a maximum of 65 inches. The new Bravia 6 will be offered in 48-, 55-, 65-, 77- and 83-inch versions, though exact availability will depend on the region. Sony emphasizes that it still intends to develop OLED TVs and does not plan to abandon the technology.
Four HDMI 2.1 ports and 4K at 120 Hz: The Bravia 6 could be an interesting choice for gamers.
Sony has equipped the Bravia 6 with the MediaTek Pentonic 800 chip, enabling—among other things—the inclusion of four HDMI 2.1 ports. All key ports support 4K signals at 120 Hz. This is a crucial feature for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users, especially for games that utilize higher refresh rates. The TVs also support VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). eARC is included as well, allowing audio transmission to a compatible receiver or soundbar. Furthermore, the Bravia 6 supports the Dolby Vision image format. Regarding audio, the TVs support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. They run on the Google TV operating system, providing access to popular streaming services; users will have access to apps such as Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, and Apple TV. The Sony Pictures Core service will also be available on the TVs. In the United States, prices start at $1,300 for the 48-inch model, $1,500 for the 55-inch model, and $2,000 for the 65-inch model. The 77-inch version costs $3,000, while the largest model—the 83-inch Bravia 6—is priced at $4,000.
