Samsung's response to LG's move. Just a few hours after LG Electronics presented its first RGB LED TV, Samsung Electronics responded with its own move. The Korean giant confirmed that in 2026, it will significantly expand its Micro RGB TV lineup, making this technology available in a much wider range of sizes.
Six diagonals instead of one giant. The new lineup, which does not yet have an official model name, will include screens with diagonals of 55, 65, 75, 85, 100, and 115 inches. This is a huge change compared to the current offering, which is limited to one 115-inch model. Samsung announces that each of the new TVs will receive a personalized Micro RGB module and an advanced chipset, aimed at increasing brightness and improving color accuracy.
What is Micro RGB technology
MicroRGB is the name Samsung uses for its RGB LED technology, which is an extension of Mini-LED. Unlike classic solutions like Neo QLED with white and blue backlighting, RGB LED uses independent red, green, and blue diodes. This makes the light much easier to control, and the color palette broader and more accurate. Advanced local dimming control of colors is expected to allow new televisions to achieve 100 percent coverage of the BT.2020 color space. Microscopic LED modules will work with the new Micro RGB AI Engine Pro processor, which will ensure precise frame-by-frame image control.
New Processor and AI Features
Samsung announces its own image processing algorithms that take care of the naturalness of colors and maintaining sharpness. Among the features will be Colour Booster and advanced HDR modes that improve contrast and image dynamics. Complementing these will be 4K AI Upscaling Pro and AI Motion Enhancer Pro technologies. A reflection-free image and a complete premium package. The new Micro RGB televisions will also receive a Glare Free coating that reduces reflections from daylight and indoor lighting. Samsung confirmed support for HDR10+, Dolby Atmos, Q-Symphony, Adaptive Sound, and the Eclipsa Audio format, a competing surround sound system co-developed by the company.
The Price is Still a Mystery
For now, we do not know the prices, but the scale of the planned offering suggests that Samsung sees Micro RGB as a real alternative to OLED and wants to gradually increase its availability. The current 115-inch model costs around 32 thousand dollars, which places it beyond the reach of most consumers. Traditionally, however, smaller sizes tend to be much cheaper, so we can only hope that the 55 and 65-inch variants will turn out to be more affordable.
More information will be revealed at CES 2026. Details regarding the specifications, prices, and availability of Micro RGB televisions are expected to be announced next month during the CES 2026 trade show.
