Polyphony Digital has released another major update for Gran Turismo 7 fans. Version 1.71 focuses primarily on new cars, offering four models that represent completely different approaches to motoring. Players can also check out three new World Circuits events and a new location in Scapes. The cars include both classic models for tuning enthusiasts and a modern electric sports car.

Four new cars showcase completely different sides of motoring

The main attraction of update 1.71 is, of course, the new cars. The first is the 1997 Toyota Chaser Tourer V, a model strongly associated with Japanese tuning and drifting culture. The car can be bought in Used Cars, and the developers encourage taking it, among other places, to Tokyo Expressway and then starting your own modifications at GT Auto and the Tuning Shop. The second new addition is the Toyota Mark II Tourer V from the same year. This model also appears in Used Cars, but it’s presented as a more understated choice for players who enjoy discovering cars that offer a lot of potential after proper tuning. The next car is the 2008 Caterham Seven Superlight R500. It’s aimed at people who value direct driver-to-car connection above all. Its low weight and character make precise braking, proper cornering, and finding the ideal racing line the most important factors. The Caterham can be purchased at Brand Central and tested, for example, on technical tracks like Deep Forest Raceway. The final new addition is the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 N, representing a modern approach to performance. The electric model lets you see how contemporary high-performance motoring is presented in Gran Turismo 7. The developers suggest testing it on fast tracks such as High-Speed Ring and comparing its capabilities with other modern sports cars.

Update 1.71 also expands track content and the Scapes mode

New cars aren't the only content Polyphony Digital prepared. Update 1.71 also introduces three new World Circuits events, letting players use the freshly added cars right away in additional challenges. The developers want to encourage players to experiment with each of the new models rather than sticking to a single car. The Toyota Chaser is positioned as a good choice for fans of street-style character and tuning, the Mark II for those seeking a less obvious car, the Caterham for drivers who prioritize precision, and the IONIQ 6 N for those who want to explore the future of performance. Scapes mode has also been expanded, now featuring a new highlighted location, Whistler. That means players can not only race the new cars but also capture impressive photos of them. Update 1.71 is free for owners of Gran Turismo 7 and was released on August 20. An internet connection is required to download the update, and purchasing the new cars requires the appropriate number of credits earned in-game or bought with real money.

Update 1.71 is another batch of content for Gran Turismo 7 that primarily expands the garage with four very different cars. The Toyota Chaser, Toyota Mark II, Caterham, and Hyundai IONIQ 6 N let you explore both the classic Japanese approach to tuning, lightweight construction, and modern electric performance. In addition, there are three new World Circuits events and the Whistler location in Scapes. The update is now available at no additional charge to Gran Turismo 7 players.
