TCL CSOT unveiled a new generation of the IJP OLED panel, an OLED made using inkjet printing. The 27-inch panel offers 4K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and, most notably, a claimed brightness of up to 500 nits across the entire screen.
500 nits across the full screen
That's an important distinction, because modern OLEDs can reach very high brightness in small parts of the image, but they usually perform much worse with a full white screen. PC Gamer notes that current QD-OLED and WOLED solutions reach roughly 300–335 nits of full-screen brightness. The new TCL CSOT panel should therefore make a clear step forward. The manufacturer also used the classic subpixel layout Real Stripe RGB, which can improve text legibility and reduce color fringing typical of some current OLED panels.
OLED printed like ink
IJP OLED also differs in the way it’s manufactured. Instead of depositing organic materials in vacuum through masks, TCL CSOT uses a technology similar to inkjet printing, in which the OLED material is applied directly to the substrate. The company is ramping up development of this technology. In August, MSI already unveiled a 27-inch 4K 120 Hz monitor with a TCL CSOT IJP OLED panel and, as we mentioned in another article, TCL is also building a Gen 8.6 production line specifically to scale this technology.
No release date yet
The panel shown is 27 inches, 4K and 120 Hz, but TCL CSOT has not yet announced when a specific monitor with this 500‑nit version will go on sale. It's also unclear when the technology will appear in other sizes. If the manufacturer's claims are confirmed in production monitors, IJP OLED could become a real competitor to QD-OLED and WOLED, especially where high brightness across large, bright image areas matters.
