LG has just challenged all e-sports monitor manufacturers! The UltraGear 27GX790B model is now available for pre-order, boldly combining two worlds: OLED image quality with a record refresh rate of 720 Hz! This is equipment that aims to end the long-standing debate about whether to choose the fastest TN panel or a beautifully glowing OLED for "serious" gaming.
720 Hz and Dual-Mode: No More Compromises
The most interesting feature in the new UltraGear is the Dual-Mode function. LG realized that gamers need different parameters for playing AAA games like The Witcher or Cyberpunk 2077, and different ones for Counter-Strike or LOL. Instead of buying two monitors, we get one that switches between two modes:
QHD (2560 x 1440) at 540 Hz – for those who want the best image quality
HD at 720 Hz – a mode designed for professional e-sports.
The OLED panel with an almost instantaneous response time of 0.02 ms (GtG) makes motion blur practically nonexistent. Regardless of what it plays, the image remains razor sharp.

Tandem OLED
The biggest drawback of OLED screens has always been their low brightness. LG solved this with the Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology. It is a multilayer matrix structure that allows extracting as much as 1500 nits from the panel. As a result, the HDR effect finally "hits" as it should, and the monitor should easily handle bright rooms. On board, we find DisplayPort 2.1, which is essential for a refresh rate of 720 Hz.
Availability and Price
The LG UltraGear 27GX790B monitor is priced at 3599 PLN (approximately $990 in the US). Considering that this is currently the fastest OLED panel on the market, the price seems to be set quite aggressively for the launch.
