An increasing number of new TVs will support automatic picture calibration using Calman Ready technology. Portrait Displays has officially confirmed extending compatibility to the MediaTek Pentonic 800 processor. This opens the way for the feature to be implemented in many TV models debuting in 2026. The solution makes it much easier to achieve more accurate color reproduction and picture parameters. However, the final decision to activate the feature still rests with TV manufacturers.
Pentonic 800 paves the way for more TVs
Support for the MediaTek Pentonic 800 processor means many more TVs could get the Calman Ready feature. Devices using this chip include, among others, the Hisense U8Q, Hisense UR8S, TCL X11L, TCL QM8L (C8L), Sony Bravia 3 II and the upcoming Philips OLED811. The processor itself provides full technical compatibility with the automated calibration system. That does not mean the feature will be enabled on every model, however. Each manufacturer must implement Calman Ready support in its own firmware. The technology gained wide popularity thanks to earlier Pentonic 1000 and Pentonic 700 processors. Those chips helped spread automated calibration across premium and upper midrange TVs. Portrait Displays emphasizes that rising screen brightness, a wider color gamut and advances in AI algorithms increase the importance of precise picture calibration. The company aims to give manufacturers an easier way to achieve high-quality on-screen images. In the coming years, the number of compatible models is expected to grow steadily. Pentonic 800 is set to become the new foundation for TVs supporting Calman Ready. That is good news for both professionals and the most demanding home users.
Calman Ready allows automatic TV calibration
Calman Ready enables automatic calibration of color, brightness and many other picture parameters. The process is carried out using Calman software for Windows, a colorimeter and a test pattern generator. The TV communicates with the other devices over Wi‑Fi or a wired LAN. As a result, most settings are applied automatically without the need for manual adjustment. The solution delivers much more accurate image reproduction than standard factory settings. The feature is especially valued by professional calibrators and home theater enthusiasts. Portrait Displays has been developing Calman Ready for several years, and the number of compatible TVs is steadily growing. Extending support to the Pentonic 800 should further accelerate the adoption of this technology. Final availability of the feature will, however, depend on the manufacturers of specific TV models. More announcements of devices equipped with Calman Ready can be expected in the coming months.
Thanks to support for the MediaTek Pentonic 800 processor, Calman Ready is likely to reach even more TVs in 2026. All signs point to automatic picture calibration becoming standard in an increasing number of premium models.
