Fighting games can be demanding, especially for players who are just getting into the genre. The developers of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls want to make it easier for newcomers to step into the world of fast-paced battles with Marvel heroes. Ahead of the upcoming open beta tests, Arc System Works released a guide outlining the game's core mechanics. Players will learn how to build teams, execute combos, and defend effectively against opponents. The beta will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC. It's the first chance to try the game's key elements before release.

Developers encourage learning the basics and experimenting with heroes

The game's developers advise that beginner players pay attention to the difficulty level of each character, indicated by stars in the hero selection menu. Some of the easiest characters to start with include Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Spider-Man. Storm and Danger offer more demanding playstyles. The developers also suggest forming teams made up of heroes who specialize in both melee and ranged combat. New players should begin learning with the Startup Battle mode, which walks them through the game's basic mechanics step by step. The tutorial teaches how to perform basic attacks, build simple combos, and use special abilities. A separate section of the guide is also devoted to cooperation between team members. This lets players gradually learn the more advanced elements of the combat system.

Team battles will be the most important element of gameplay

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls focuses primarily on fast-paced team fights. Players can summon members of their team to perform assist attacks or smoothly switch between characters during combat. The developers also encourage mastering simple attack combos and defensive mechanics such as blocking, Assemble Counter, and Crossover. These make it possible to quickly shift from defense to counterattack. The game offers two ways to activate special abilities. Beginners can use the simplified Quick Skill system, while more experienced players have access to classic button combos that deal more damage and charge the skill gauge faster. The open beta will also include a portion of the story-driven Episode Mode, which presents the story of Spider-Man’s team as an animated comic. After completing the tutorial, players will be able to immediately test what they’ve learned in matches. The Open Beta will run from July 24 to 26 on PlayStation 5 and PC.

PlayStation

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls aims to appeal to both fighting-game fans and players just starting out with the genre. An extensive tutorial, a simplified control scheme, and dynamic team battles are designed to make it easier to learn all the mechanics. The open beta will let players see whether Arc System Works' new release has a chance to become one of the most interesting Marvel fighting games.
