When editing a film, screen space is usually missing just when you need it most. The preview competes for space with the timeline, the media library, and other panels. HKC offers a rather unusual solution: the Tianqi 43H180C, a 43.8-inch monitor with a 24:9 aspect ratio and a 5760 × 2160 resolution. You can display a full 4K image on it, with a 1920 × 2160-pixel area left alongside. That provides room for tools without covering what you're working on.
An unusual form factor comes with a fairly extensive feature set. The manufacturer used a 1000R curve, Mini LED backlighting, and a 180 Hz refresh rate. It also claims 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. For connecting a computer, inputs include DisplayPort 2.1 and a USB-C port with up to 96 W power delivery. There's also a KVM switch that lets you control multiple connected devices with a single keyboard and mouse. That kind of setup may appeal to people who share a desk between a work laptop and a personal PC.
The most interesting aspect, however, is the screen concept itself: as tall as a standard 4K monitor, but with extra space on the side. In practice it could be a convenient compromise between a single display and a two-monitor setup. We still need to wait to assess its value. Price and wider availability dates have not been announced. There's also no information on the number of dimming zones, so the Mini LED label alone is not yet enough to assess HDR performance.
