Grand Theft Auto VI has for many months remained one of the most anticipated games in the world. Huge interest in the next installment of the series is confirmed both by trailer figures and early pre-order data. Now analysts at Newzoo have published forecasts suggesting a record-breaking debut for a Rockstar Games release. According to their estimates, GTA VI could generate billions of dollars in revenue in its first week on the market. No game in history has achieved such a result so far. Everything points to the GTA VI launch becoming one of the biggest events in the entertainment industry.

Forecasts point to as many as 51 million copies sold in a week

Analytics firm Newzoo forecasts that GTA VI could bring in between $3.3 billion and as much as $5.2 billion in revenue during its first week of sales. The most optimistic model projects roughly $4.5 billion in revenue and nearly 51 million copies sold. The forecasts were based on earlier pre-order results and the launches of major sequels in the industry. According to analysts, GTA VI already generated about $260 million in revenue in the first week of pre-orders. That shows the scale of interest in Rockstar Games' new title even before its debut. Newzoo's more conservative model also predicts impressive results. In that scenario, GTA VI would sell about 37 million copies and generate $3.25 billion in revenue in its first week. Even that outcome would be one of the biggest achievements in gaming history. Analysts stress that all forecasts apply only to the game's initial sales period.

PC launch could bring another wave of records

Newzoo's forecasts take into account that GTA VI is expected to debut exclusively on consoles initially. That means a potential PC release could generate another large wave of sales at a later date. Analysts say earlier Sony game launches showed that PC editions can significantly boost total sales. The huge interest in GTA VI was already apparent with the release of the game's second trailer. The footage reportedly exceeded 475 million views within the first 24 hours across all platforms. Those numbers show that interest in the new installment goes far beyond a standard game launch. If Newzoo's forecasts prove accurate, Rockstar Games will set new records both in sales and in revenue. We'll only know the final results after the game's release, but experts are already expecting a historic debut. GTA VI could become one of the most profitable launches in the history of the entire entertainment industry.

Analysts at Newzoo predict that GTA VI could generate around $4.5 billion in revenue and sell as many as 51 million copies in its first week on the market. Even more conservative forecasts point to a record-breaking launch that could set new standards for the entire video game industry.
