Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has fallen victim to another breach of Denuvo’s protection. DSOGaming reported that the circumvention was carried out by an individual operating under the alias voices38. The game launched on July 9, so a little over a month passed between release and the security break. This is another example showing that Denuvo does not guarantee lasting protection against unauthorized circumvention. The title itself is a full-fledged remake of the popular Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and introduces many changes compared to the original.
Denuvo in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has been cracked
According to available information, Denuvo in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has been cracked by a person using the pseudonym voices38. More than 30 days passed since the game's release on July 9 before the protection was successfully bypassed. For comparison, the previous major title with Denuvo whose protections were cracked was Crimson Desert. In that case only 11 days passed between successive cracks. This shows how much the time required to bypass Denuvo can vary depending on the specific title. The cracking itself does not mean the publisher intends to abandon the technology in future games. Ubisoft can still decide to keep Denuvo in its other releases. In recent years, however, it has been observed that some publishers eventually remove Denuvo from older games. Such decisions were made by, among others, Square Enix, Capcom, Bethesda and other major publishers. It is worth stressing that bypassing protections to gain unauthorized access to a game can infringe copyright and software terms of use. The news about Denuvo being cracked is therefore primarily a curiosity regarding protections used in PC games.
The Black Flag remake offers far more than just a visual overhaul
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is not just a refreshed version of the original with improved graphics. Ubisoft has rebuilt the combat system, which is now faster and more dynamic. Parrying and flashy takedowns play a bigger role. Stealth and parkour have also been improved, making movement around the world and escapes smoother. The Jackdaw ship remains an important element and can be upgraded as you progress through the game. The remake also introduces new naval mechanics and alternative firing modes. The developers added new story content, in which, among others, Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet return. The main story also introduces three new officers who can join the player's crew. One of the more interesting additions is the ability to dive underwater almost anywhere. While sneaking, you can also use a rope to pull enemies toward you and throw coins to distract guards. The game runs on the latest version of the Anvil Engine, and the PC version offers ray tracing for improved global illumination and reflections.
The Denuvo crack for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced occurred a little over a month after the game's release. This is another case in which the popular anti-piracy protection was successfully bypassed. However, the remake itself has much more to offer than just a visual refresh. Ubisoft reworked combat, stealth, and parkour, and also added new story elements and exploration mechanics. The game also uses the modern Anvil Engine and offers ray tracing support on PC.
