ASUS unveiled a new soundbar. It caters to gamers.

ASUS has launched the ROG Gjallar soundbar. The model is aimed primarily at gamers, but can also serve as the main audio system for a TV. The unit offers 2.1.2-channel sound with Dolby Atmos support, a wireless subwoofer and an additional control panel. So far the product is on sale in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Its price is €599.90 (roughly 680 USD at a simple conversion). ASUS has not yet announced an official Polish price or availability date in Poland.

Soundbar with HDMI 2.1

ROG Gjallar uses four 50 mm full-range drivers, two tweeters and two upward-firing channels. Low frequencies are handled by a wireless subwoofer with a 6.5-inch, 65 W driver. The manufacturer implemented a 5 GHz wireless connection. Onboard connectivity includes HDMI 2.1 with eARC, which also supports pass-through of 4K at 120 Hz. There are also USB-C, two USB-A ports, an optical input, an AUX input, and Bluetooth 5.3. The soundbar can be connected to, among other devices, a TV, a computer, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

Separate panel with microphones

An interesting feature of the package is a small control panel with an LCD screen. It lets you change the audio source, adjust the equalizer, and switch between profiles designed for gaming, music, and movies. The panel also houses microphones with echo cancellation. They are a nod to gamers, but it raises the question: how many of them would choose a soundbar for voice communication?
