Apple is expanding its Android apps, adding features previously familiar to iPhone users. The latest updates have arrived for Apple TV and Apple Music and bring several practical improvements. The biggest addition is widgets, which let you launch movies, TV shows, and music faster without opening the apps. Apple Music also gained a new option for sharing songs and playlists via WhatsApp. Although the changes aren't revolutionary, they can significantly improve the daily experience of using Apple's services on Android smartphones. The updates are already rolling out to users around the world.
Apple TV on Android gains new widgets
Version 2.5 of the Apple TV app adds three new widgets for the device's home screen. They provide quick access to the "Continue Watching" section without having to open the app. The smallest widget shows a single movie or TV episode ready to resume. The medium widget displays two items at once. The largest widget offers an expanded preview with larger artwork for the first item and a scrollable list of the next entries. Tapping an item starts playback immediately. The widgets cannot be resized and mirror the widgets previously available on iOS. The Apple TV 2.5 update is already being rolled out gradually via the Google Play Store.
Apple Music makes accessing music and sharing via WhatsApp easier
At the same time, Apple has begun rolling out version 6.5 of the Apple Music app for Android. The update introduces two new widgets that expand home screen personalization options. The Pins widget lets you quickly open pinned albums, playlists, or artists. Live Radio lets you launch online radio stations quickly without going to the app's dedicated tab. These new elements join previously available widgets like Now Playing, Recently Played, Recommendations, and Top Charts. Apple also added the ability to share songs, albums, playlists, and song lyrics directly to WhatsApp. This lets users share music with friends faster. The company did not announce any other major changes in this version of the app.
New Apple TV and Apple Music updates show that Apple is still developing its services on Android devices. Widgets make it easier to access favorite content, and integration with WhatsApp makes sharing music much more convenient. While these are mostly quality-of-life improvements, they could positively affect everyday use of both apps.
