Philips continues to develop its new Smart TV platform, which is gradually replacing Google TV across the manufacturer's models. One of the biggest criticisms of Titan OS was the limited number of available apps. However, that is starting to change. The manufacturer has just announced the addition of one of the most important streaming services on the market. As a result, owners of many Philips TVs will gain access to another large library of movies and series.

The Apple TV app is now available on TVs running Titan OS

Titan OS is a Smart TV system Philips has been developing for several years and is increasingly promoting in its new sets. In 2026 the company completely abandoned Google TV in new models, relying exclusively on its own solution. One of the biggest challenges, however, was ensuring proper support for popular streaming apps. At first the catalog was fairly modest, but it has expanded rapidly over time. Available services already include Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, YouTube and Prime Video. Now Apple TV is joining the list. This is an important step for the platform's development, since Apple’s service provides access to both its own productions and an extensive library of premium content. Viewers can watch series such as "Silo", "Severance", "Ted Lasso" and "For All Mankind".

There are also high-profile films and new premieres from Apple. Adding the app means Titan OS now offers almost a complete set of the world's major streaming platforms. According to earlier announcements, SkyShowtime could also join the list later this year. That means Philips TV users will no longer need extra set-top boxes or consoles just to access their favorite VOD services.

Support for 4K, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos is good news for users

The new Apple TV app is not limited to basic picture quality. Philips confirmed that users will have access to 4K content and HDR10. Support is also included for the more advanced Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos formats, which significantly enhance picture and sound on compatible devices. This lets you watch Apple Originals in the highest quality available on the platform. The app will be available not only on the newest Philips TVs from 2026. Support will also come to 2025 models and selected devices launched in 2024. That’s good news for people who bought a TV relatively recently and don’t plan to replace their hardware. Titan OS is also being developed outside of the Philips brand. The system can be found in selected AOC and JVC TVs, which means those users can also expect new features. At this point it’s unclear whether the app on Titan OS will also let users buy and rent movies directly from Apple’s library. On some third-party platforms this feature is not available. Regardless, adding Apple TV significantly increases the appeal of the entire Titan OS ecosystem and shows the platform is increasingly competing with more established Smart TV systems.
