AMD is preparing a new graphics in APU. RDNA 4m reveals plans for Zen 6.

Calendar 3/25/2026

AMD is silently developing its next generations of graphics cards. New entries in the Linux code reveal that the company is working on further variants of RDNA 4m, which could be included in future Zen 6 processors. Although these are just technical leaks, they provide a pretty clear picture of the direction AMD is heading. And it looks like the changes will be bigger than it may have seemed.

New RDNA 4m Architectures, More Variants on the Way

The latest changes in LLVM have introduced new designations: GFX1171 and GFX1172, which join the previously discovered GFX1170. This suggests that AMD is not working on a single chip, but on an entire family of GPUs based on RDNA 4m. Interestingly, all these variants have very similar capabilities regarding instructions and functions. However, RDNA 4m is not a classic RDNA 4. It is rather a hybrid between RDNA 3.5 and RDNA 4, which is set to be implemented in integrated chips, not in graphics cards.

New iGPU for Zen 6 and the Medusa Platform

The most important aspect is where these chips will land. Everything indicates that RDNA 4m will be part of future APU based on Zen 6, known as Medusa Point. These are successors to the current Strix Point chips, which still utilize RDNA 3.5. This means that AMD plans for a significant leap in integrated graphics before transitioning to full RDNA 5. The new architecture also introduces support for modern technologies such as FP8, BF8, and AI instructions, indicating that iGPUs will increasingly focus on computations and artificial intelligence.

While the biggest revolution is still to come with RDNA 5, AMD is already laying the groundwork for the next generation. RDNA 4m could serve as a bridge that allows for enhanced performance without a complete architectural shift. At the same time, there are plans for even more powerful chips, such as Medusa Halo, which are expected to introduce a true technological leap. This shows that AMD is developing graphics incrementally, rather than making one large revolution at a time.

New leaks confirm that AMD is working intensively on the future of its iGPUs. RDNA 4m and new GFX1171/GFX1172 chips are another step toward more powerful processors with integrated graphics. If the plans hold true, Zen 6 could bring a noticeable performance increase before the era of RDNA 5 fully begins.
