65-inch TVs – Test Rankings

Available screen sizes: 48”, 55”, 65”, 77”, 83”

Technology: WRGB OLED

Brand: LG

Verdict:

The LG OLED B6 is a very successful continuation of the B series and a TV that makes a lot of sense as a first step into OLED. It doesn't try to compete with the most expensive models in every respect, but in the most important areas it still manages to deliver exactly what many people choose this technology for: perfect blacks, very high contrast and a picture that can simply look spectacular in ...

Available screen sizes: 55”, 65”, 75”, 86”

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED PFS LED

Brand: LG

Verdict:

The LG MRGB85 is a television that is best suited to gamers and users who are attached to webOS. In that respect it is hard to fault. It offers plenty of benefits for gamers thanks to a very high panel refresh rate. Add to that the smoothly operating webOS, which stands out above all for the convenient Magic Remote and a full set of features for traditional television. The problem begins when you ...

Available screen sizes: 65”, 75”, 85”, 98”

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED RGB + PFS

Brand: TCL

Verdict:

The TCL RM7L is a TV that can't be fairly assessed by measurements and charts alone. Although it isn't uncompromising kit, it more than holds its own in everyday use. It delivers a bright, dynamic and richly saturated picture, which makes it great for HDR content, gaming and fast-paced films. The RM7L doesn't chase perfect "reference-level" accuracy. Instead, it serves up an image that simply plea...

Available screen sizes: 42”, 48”, 55”, 65”, 83”

Technology: WRGB OLED

Brand: SAMSUNG

Verdict:

The Samsung S90H is a TV that simply makes a superb impression. The combination of an OLED’s absolute black, high brightness and excellent motion clarity gives a picture that’s hard to look away from. And that’s exactly what we expect from a good OLED TV. The matte anti-reflective coating also works very well. Reflections in bright sunlight stop being a major problem, and thanks to the presence of...

Technology: QD-OLED

Brand: SAMSUNG

Verdict:

The Samsung S99H is probably the best OLED TV we've tested so far, and certainly Samsung's best OLED in many years. In terms of picture quality it's genuinely hard to find a weak point. Blacks are perfect, as befits an organic panel, and the HDR effect impresses with its brightness and colour saturation. The use of a QD-OLED panel delivers an image that in many scenes looks almost reference-grade....

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED QLED

Brand: SAMSUNG

Verdict:

The Samsung QN80H is a genuinely successful mid-range television and, in our view, should be seen exactly that way. Not as a new Neo QLED flagship, but as the first model in Samsung's lineup to give a clear taste of better picture quality. Full Mini LED backlighting, high brightness and well-saturated colours mean that for someone upgrading from a standard LCD TV the difference can be substantial....

Available screen sizes: 65”, 75”, 85”

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED RGB

Brand: HISENSE

Verdict:

Hisense UR9S is without doubt one of the more interesting launches this year, but not necessarily for the reasons the manufacturer most emphasises. Admittedly, the brand’s first RGB Mini LED backlight in history and in this range impresses in measurements, but in practice the TV’s main strength is that it is simply well refined. It’s clear Hisense learned from previous models and improved the thin...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED PFS LED

Brand: TCL

Verdict:

TCL A400 Pro is one of the most interesting lifestyle TVs we’ve tested so far. Not because it turns the whole idea of the “TV as a picture” on its head. In that respect it does roughly what the competition does: it’s meant to look good, blend into the room and not be just another black slab in the living room. Its real strength lies elsewhere: in picture quality. This is the first TV of this kind ...

Technology: LCD VA, RGB MINI-LED

Brand: SONY

Verdict:

The Sony Bravia 9 II is without doubt one of the most advanced televisions that have ever come across our review desk. The Japanese have created a true beast, using an entirely new RGB Mini-LED backlight design that they call True RGB. But the technology alone is only half the success. Only combined with Sony’s finely tuned, years-in-the-making image processing algorithms has a TV emerged that is ...

Technology: WRGB OLED, WRGB TANDEM OLED

Brand: LG

Verdict:

Without a doubt, the LG G6 is an outstanding television in many respects. Thanks to the new second-generation Tandem OLED panel, it does something that no other screen with a glossy coating on the market has been able to achieve – it superbly suppresses light reflections while maintaining perfect, unblemished picture quality. When we add to this its record brightness and the unique properties of t...
