Which Mini LED should you buy? After all, not everyone is looking for an OLED. For many of you, a high brightness, resistance to burn-in, and excellent visibility in a bright living room are priorities. And that’s precisely why this ranking was created – a comparison of the best Mini LED televisions currently available at very attractive prices. In this comparison, you will find models that not only have become cheaper but, more importantly, stand out in terms of picture quality that is hard to find in televisions of a similar price range! Some offer great HDR reproduction, while others provide excellent gaming support or access to a huge base of applications. What do they all have in common? These are models that we have tested and that truly deliver. Of course, each of these models differs in aspects such as the smart system, gaming features, or design. However, each of these models is currently a sensible choice for those who want something more than an average LCD – but don’t necessarily want to reach for an OLED.
Three best MINI-LED televisions at a reasonable price!
Samsung QN85D / QNX1D
One of the cheapest Mini LEDs in Samsung's offering for 2024, and also one of the more interesting models in its price range. Although it has the fewest dimming zones among this brand's top models, it stands out with an excellent image processor that compensates for hardware shortcomings. The QN85D performs very well with contrast, upscaling, and light management in challenging HDR scenes. Its panel offers high brightness and a high 120Hz refresh rate. The Tizen system runs quickly, has plenty of apps and smart features – including PiP, integration with the SmartThings app, and a very convenient remote. It is the perfect choice if you are looking for a compromise between quality and price in Samsung's ecosystem.
TCL C765 (MQLED85)
TCL C765, also known as MQLED85, is a model that offers exceptionally good value in its price range. The Mini LED backlighting with local dimming and very good picture quality make this television compete with much more expensive models. Its greatest asset is the Google TV system, which provides the largest selection of apps among all platforms. It's also a great choice for gamers - we have HDMI 2.1, variable refresh rate, and very good (low) input lag. If you are looking for a versatile television with Mini LED and the Google TV system - it's hard to find a better choice at this price.
Hisense U7NQ
Hisense U7NQ is one of the more balanced models in this range. It also offers Mini LED backlighting but is additionally equipped with features that the competition lacks – such as the ability to record to USB and a classic remote control with physical buttons. This is a television that performs excellently in traditional usage: watching television, films and series, as well as occasional gaming. Its strength also lies in the VIDAA system – simple, fast, with an ever-increasing base of applications. For someone who values functionality and a classic approach to handling typically "television" features, the U7NQ will be a perfect fit.
*Note on the 75-inch variant, we are 100% certain that it has an IPS/ADS panel, so it does not refer to our test. Definitely concerning the assessment of contrast and black levels!
Exceptions to the rule: X90L and Q80D!
Sony X90L
The Sony X90L is one of two exceptions in this comparison, as it does not use Mini LEDs, but rather a traditional Full Array LED backlight. Nevertheless, it deserves a very high place in our ranking of televisions due to its very good image processing quality. Sony has shown for years that a good processor can work wonders – and the X90L is an example of this. It handles lower quality materials excellently, improves the fluidity and detail of the image, and it operates on the Google TV system. If you are looking for something with a more cinematic flair, rather than necessarily the maximum number of zones – this model will be an excellent choice for those who do not always watch materials in the highest quality!
Samsung Q80D
Q80D is a sort of "cheaper version" of the Mini LED QN85D – because instead of hundreds of zones, we have classic FALD backlighting here, but it is done in a very sensible manner. Interestingly, its price in the 75” variant can be lower than some 75-inch models from lower series of televisions, such as the much inferior Samsung Q70D model with edge backlighting. It is this price that makes the Q80D feature in this comparison.
Although it doesn't have such impressive technical parameters, it handles HDR and contrast very well, and the additional motion smoother makes games and films look really decent. On top of that, there is a convenient Tizen system, a reliable processor, and decent build quality. For many, this will be a great alternative if they don't need an absolutely top-notch display and want to purchase a large television for really reasonable money.
Biggest discounts? It's the Flagship MiniLEDs!
Samsung QN90D / QN92D
This is a true high-end Mini LED. The QN90D (or its equivalent QN92D) offers a very large number of dimming zones, impressive brightness (up to 2000 nits), and excellent picture quality even in challenging lighting conditions. The VA panel is supported by technology that improves viewing angles, and the television itself operates on a refined Tizen system. It performs brilliantly both in the evening and in a sunny room. There is also support for gamers and modern gaming features (144Hz, HDMI2.1, etc.). It is simply one of the strongest LCDs on the market, now available at a very good price. Its largest variants have dropped by as much as 60% compared to their launch price!
TCL C855
Although TCL has already presented its new line of televisions for 2025, it is worth taking a look at last year's model – C855. The main reason? The prices of the new models are approximately 30% higher, and the C855 still offers excellent picture quality, impressive brightness, and a vast number of dimming zones. This is TCL's flagship (excluding the absurdly expensive 115-inch television series 😉) for 2024, which works great both as a TV for films and series, and as a gaming screen. Unlike many competing models, the C855 runs on the Google TV system, giving us access to the largest number of applications and smart features. Gamers can count on HDMI 2.1, low input lag, and a high screen refresh rate of 144Hz! If you want a premium class television without the surcharge for this year's "new" badge – this is one of the best options in the entire range.
