Microsoft has once again put together a roundup of the most interesting independent games available on Xbox. As part of the Indie Selects programme, the company has highlighted five titles that should particularly appeal to fans of original ideas and unconventional gameplay. The July selection includes challenging action games, atmospheric adventures and titles geared towards relaxing gameplay.
Five games Xbox recommends for July
This year’s Indie Selects roundup features five very different titles. The first is Mina the Hollower, a retro action game inspired by classic adventure games, with a demanding combat system and a dark atmosphere. The second is Realm of Ink, a dynamic roguelite notable for its striking visuals inspired by Chinese ink painting and its fast-paced combat. Also on the list is Bellwright, which combines survival, settlement building and strategy elements. Players develop their own settlement, manage the inhabitants and gradually build an army to face opponents. Fans of a calmer experience can try Coffee Talk Tokyo, a narrative game set in a night-time café where preparing drinks is interwoven with conversations with distinctive characters.
Not only RPGs and strategy games. Basketball also features on the list
The final featured title is NBA The Run, an arcade basketball game inspired by streetball. The title emphasises fast online matches, spectacular plays and short tournaments featuring NBA stars and fictional players. The Indie Selects programme is updated monthly and aims to help players discover lesser-known but highly rated indie titles. Microsoft emphasises that the July selection includes games offering varied gameplay, distinctive style and a high level of polish.
