TCL is once again shaking up the mid-range television segment – and in a way that the competition certainly won't appreciate. The new T7 QLED series features televisions with Google TV, a fast panel, and gaming functions that have so far been reserved for much more expensive models. And the prices? Surprisingly low. The largest 85-inch variant costs 1399 dollars, which is about 1060 pounds.
Sure – that's still over a thousand, but looking at the specifications, it's hard not to consider this a great deal. QLED panels improve colour reproduction, and most models offer 144 Hz with VRR and Auto Low Latency Mode. Only the smallest, 55-inch version is limited to 120 Hz, which is still fully sufficient for most gamers.
For Gamers – To the Point
In practice, this means precisely what console gamers need:
– a quick panel,
– stable fluidity,
– less blur and tearing,
– better HDR.
TCL also adds its AIPQ Pro processor, which improves image quality in real-time – from scaling to contrast and detail sharpening. Additionally, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos, providing a complete package that was previously unimaginable at this price point.
Connectivity and system – a complete set of possibilities
On board, we will find:
– 4× HDMI, including one with eARC support,
– Google TV with Chromecast,
– AirPlay 2,
– Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant (likely soon Gemini)
– and Apple HomeKit.
Full specifications are still missing – TCL has not provided the brightness of the panels – but with QLEDs, we can reasonably assume that they will shine bright enough for HDR in the living room.
Prices of individual models:
Size | USD | AUD | EUR | GBP | PLN |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
55″ | 599 USD | ~ 917 AUD | ~ 515 EUR | ~ 455 GBP | ~ 2 181 PLN |
65″ | 699 USD | ~ 1 069 AUD | ~ 601 EUR | ~ 532 GBP | ~ 2 544 PLN |
75″ | 899 USD | ~ 1 376 AUD | ~ 773 EUR | ~ 683 GBP | ~ 3 274 PLN |
85″ | 1 399 USD | ~ 2 141 AUD | ~ 1 203 EUR | ~ 1 063 GBP | ~ 5 091 PLN |
This is a very good price range for those who do not want (or cannot) spend several thousand on an OLED from Samsung or LG. And switching from an older 60 Hz LCD, the difference will be colossal: brighter HDR, more dynamic films, and significantly smoother games.
The market is changing – and quickly
It is undeniable – today not everyone can afford high-end. That’s why the “mid-range” segment is becoming increasingly packed, and premium features are flowing down faster than ever. Just a few years ago, a “gaming” television cost several thousand. Now? TCL is producing models with 144 Hz, VRR, and Dolby Vision for just under £600.
The T7 series is another evidence that QLED can provide features that were recently the domain of much more expensive Mini LED panels. For now, it is unknown when – and if – the T7 version will officially arrive in Europe. History shows, however, that TCL rarely gives up on the British and European markets, so we will likely see similar models here as well.
