A leak reveals the memory configuration of the PS6
According to information appearing on the NeoGAF forum, backed by well-known insider Kepler2, the PlayStation 6 might be equipped with 30 GB of GDDR7 memory operating in a shared memory model between CPU and GPU. The source suggests that Sony is considering the use of ten memory modules with a capacity of 3 GB each, which would be a clear departure from the solutions previously used in consoles. Such a configuration could provide developers with greater flexibility in resource utilisation and better prepare the console for the demands of the next generation of games.
According to forecasts, PlayStation 6 may only debut around 2029, and the use of 30 GB of GDDR7 memory is likely to result in a significantly higher price for the console. Similar leaks also concern the new Xbox, which suggests that the next generation of consoles may clearly shift towards the more expensive premium segment.
