Apple does not intend to abandon the iPhone Air series, even if it is not a sales hit. According to leaks, the company plans at least two more generations, iPhone Air 2 and iPhone Air 3, which simultaneously decreases the chances of the Plus model returning in future iPhones. This shows that Apple wants to develop its vision of an ultra-thin smartphone, even if the first version had clear compromises.

However, in the case of the iPhone Air, Apple is reportedly planning to make improvements, with talks of a bigger battery and an additional camera, which is meant to enhance the device's appeal without sacrificing its sleek form. The company evidently believes that it is possible to reconcile design with functionality.
