The market for ultra-fast OLED gaming monitors is now gaining momentum. LG and ViewSonic have officially presented their first models with 540 / 720 Hz based on the new panel RGB Tandem OLED (4th generation OLED from LG Display), which is intended to compete directly with QD-OLED.
So far, the fastest version of this panel has been used in monitors from Asus and Acer. The absence of LG Electronics among the launch partners was quite surprising, but the company is catching up by presenting the model LG 27GX790B. ViewSonic responds with the XG273F-2K-OLED design.
One panel, two modes: 540 Hz or 720 Hz
All four monitors – from Acer, Asus, LG and ViewSonic – utilise the same 27-inch flat OLED panel with a resolution of 2560 × 1440. The specifications are impressive:

335 nits fullscreen, distinctly more than in the previous generation of OLED

The panel operates natively at a refresh rate of 540 Hz at 1440p, but thanks to the dual-mode, users can switch to 720 Hz at 720p. Importantly, at 720 Hz, the OLEDs will likely provide better motion clarity than the upcoming 1000 Hz LCD monitors, due to the extremely low pixel response time.

Prices and Availability
LG and ViewSonic models will be available for purchase soon, but their prices have not yet been revealed. We expect more details during CES 2026. For reference – Asus PG27AQWP is already available for sale.

What does this mean for the market?
RGB Tandem OLED enters the market with a very strong impact. 540 Hz at 1440p and 720 Hz at 720p, higher brightness, and full HDR mean we are talking about a new stage in e-sports monitors. If the prices of LG and ViewSonic prove to be competitive, the LCD market could face a serious problem. It seems that the 720 Hz OLED will become the new benchmark for the most demanding gamers.
