Nintendo has released update 3.0.1 for its biggest hit, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is the second patch this year and another sign that the company continues to actively support production, even though several years have passed since the release. The update applies to both the classic Switch and the new version of the hardware, the Nintendo Switch 2. Some changes pertain to both platforms, but owners of the newer console have also received fixes dedicated exclusively to their version.
End of slowdowns and errors with fences
The list of fixes common to both editions is specific. The most important changes include: removal of frame drops when leaving the inn for the island, fixing a bug that caused fences to disappear or duplicate while landscaping, improving the behaviour of Tommy and Timmy in Nook’s Cranny, adjustments to the positioning of items in the catalog used for photographing and interior decorating. These are minor elements, but in a game focused on calm exploration and island building, such details are very important for the comfort of play.
ChooseTV 2 with improved sky and weaker rumble
Players using the Nintendo ChooseTV 2 received two additional fixes. The first addressed a visual bug that caused clouds on the horizon to be displayed at the wrong angle. The second change sparked more emotion. Nintendo adjusted the intensity of the controller's vibrations to a level known from the original ChooseTV. Previously, the rumble on the ChooseTV 2 version was noticeably stronger, which some players considered an advantage, especially during fishing or when using the pole. Now the vibrations have been standardised. Within the community, there are voices suggesting that a better solution would be an option to adjust the strength of the effect in settings.
Patch 3.0.1 arrives at a time when players are still discussing the value of the paid version on ChooseTV 2. Many are hoping not only for technical fixes but also for new content. Among fans, the topic of an expanded multiplayer mode in the style of the classic Tortimer Island from earlier entries in the series regularly comes up. For now, however, the update focuses on stability and performance quality.
Update 3.0.1 doesn't bring any revolutions, but organises technical shortcomings and improves gameplay comfort on both generations of hardware. The most excitement stems from the decision to standardise vibrations on Switch 2. Now the question remains whether future patches will also bring new content that the community is waiting for.
