Avatar 3 doesn't slow down in Poland either. The new installment of James Cameron's saga is attracting massive crowds to cinemas and has quickly confirmed that the Avatar brand still resonates with audiences just as effectively as in previous installments.
According to Box Office Report data, Avatar: Fire and Ash was just a step away from crossing the symbolic barrier of one million viewers after its second weekend. A total of 404,000 people went to the cinemas in its second weekend of screening – that's a result 1.5% better than during the opening weekend. By the end of Sunday, December 28, the film had gathered 989,000 viewers, and everything indicates that the million mark was crossed already on Monday.
This is also confirmed by ticket revenue. As Radosław Koch notes on platform X, Avatar 3 collected $8.16 million in Poland, which perfectly aligns with the attendance of around one million viewers.
Avatar 3 breaks records in Polish cinemas
This result is no surprise, but it is extremely impressive. One million viewers after the second weekend is a feat that only a few titles could boast about in 2025. Among those titles were Good Home, Zootopia 2, The In-Laws 3, and Minecraft. Avatar once again proves that it is one of the few franchises capable of drawing in mass audiences to cinemas – despite the increasing popularity of streaming and changing viewer habits.
Global hit and a swift march to a billion
The film is performing just as well globally. After a week in cinemas, Avatar: Fire and Ash has amassed a total of 761 million dollars worldwide. Projections suggest that it should surpass a billion dollars by the third weekend of screening.
What's next for Avatar 4 and 5?
Although the financial results look very solid, James Cameron is cautiously speaking about the future of the series. Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 have already scheduled release dates – respectively in December 2029 and 2031 – however, the director admits that nothing is set in stone yet. Cameron revealed that if he decides to cancel the production of the next films, he has a backup plan:
– I don't know if the saga will continue, but I hope it does. Business-wise, we've proven every time that it makes sense. However, if we can't make the fourth and fifth parts, I will organise a press conference and tell everyone what we will do – the creator announced.
One of the ideas is to expand the story of Pandora in the form of books. However, Cameron admits that currently it's difficult to talk about a stable business model for such projects, especially in the American market, where, according to cited research, about 40% of adults read for pleasure.
– Regardless of everything, it would be good to have a canonical record of what we were supposed to do – the director emphasises.
For now, there’s no decision. It is known, however, that Cameron's next project will be a new Terminator. Work on the script is set to begin in early 2026.
