Capcom held another Spotlight presentation, during which it revealed news about its most important franchises. The company focused mainly on the expansion for Dragon’s Dogma 2, new footage from Onimusha and fresh content for Monster Hunter Stories 3. There were new trailers, details about free updates and information on upcoming releases. For fans of the Japanese studio, it was one of the most important presentations in recent months. Capcom showed it intends to continue significantly developing its biggest series even after the release of the base games.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is getting a massive expansion, and Monster Hunter Stories 3 is already expanding today
One of the biggest announcements turned out to be Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a large expansion prepared two years after the base game’s release. The add-on will launch on 9 October both as a standalone expansion and as a complete edition for new players. The action will take players to the new icebound region of Norgan, where a mysterious Fallen Dragon will appear along with a new heroine named Eir. The expansion will also introduce the Relic Expedition Cycle system, which involves exploring new areas, collecting relics and trading them for progressively more powerful gear. The developers have also prepared 12 new Lost Rites dungeons, additional hairstyles, tattoos and further character customisation options. Capcom has announced a free update for the base game that will increase the number of save slots, expand the number of active skills from four to six and improve performance. At the same time, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is being developed in parallel. A paid add-on, Additional Side Story: Rudy, is already available and expands the story of the well-known character Navirou, introducing new narrative threads. In the DLC players will also face the legendary dragon Nergigante, known from Monster Hunter: World. In addition, a free update has been released that adds extremely tough endgame challenges in the form of Royal Monsters, aimed at the most experienced players. Capcom clearly shows it intends to support Monster Hunter Stories 3 for a long time after launch.
Onimusha returns after years, and Capcom reminds everyone of its biggest franchises
During the presentation there was also new footage from Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the first new entry in the series in almost two decades. Capcom revealed a new opponent called Dohatsu-ten, who will be one of the main bosses in the upcoming game. The powerful demon fights with a sword, grows stronger with every wound it inflicts and can absorb opponents' souls, increasing its power during battle. The main protagonist remains Miyamoto Musashi, who, thanks to a mysterious Oni Power, once again takes up arms against the demonic Genma in a darker version of feudal Kyoto. Capcom also reminded fans that the game will launch in September, and players can already download a free demo available on PlayStation 5. The whole presentation showed that the Japanese company has no intention of slowing down. It is simultaneously developing new entries in established franchises, supporting already released titles with major updates and investing in substantial story expansions. As a result, the coming months look set to be particularly busy for fans of Capcom's games. In particular, Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Onimusha are currently among the studio's most anticipated projects. Everything suggests the company is preparing a very strong second half of the year for its biggest franchises.
Capcom Spotlight 2026 delivered several major announcements. Dragon's Dogma 2 will receive a major expansion, Dark Arisen; Monster Hunter Stories 3 gained new DLC and a free update; and Onimusha: Way of the Sword showcased another powerful opponent ahead of its September launch.
