Philips continues to develop its new Smart TV platform, which is gradually replacing Google TV across the manufacturer's line-up. One of the biggest criticisms of Titan OS was the limited number of available apps. However, that is starting to change. The manufacturer has just announced the addition of one of the market's major streaming services. As a result, owners of many Philips TVs will gain access to another large library of movies and TV shows.

The Apple TV app has arrived on TVs running Titan OS

Titan OS is a smart TV platform Philips has been developing for several years and is increasingly promoting in its new sets. In 2026 the company completely dropped Google TV from new models, putting all its weight behind its own solution. One of the biggest challenges, however, was providing proper support for popular streaming apps. At first the catalogue was fairly modest, but it has since grown quickly. Available services already include Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, YouTube and Prime Video. Now the Apple TV app is joining that line-up. It's an important step for the platform's development, because Apple's service offers access both to its own original programming and to an extensive library of premium content. Viewers can watch series such as "Silo", "Severance", "Ted Lasso" and "For All Mankind".

There are also high-profile films and new releases being prepared by Apple. Adding the app means Titan OS now offers almost the full set of the world's major streaming platforms. According to earlier announcements, SkyShowtime may also join the list later this year. That means Philips TV users won't have to rely on additional set-top boxes or consoles just to get access to their favourite VOD services.

Support for 4K, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos is good news for users

The new Apple TV app hasn't been limited to basic picture quality. Philips has confirmed that users will have access to 4K content and HDR10. There is also support for the more advanced Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos formats, which significantly improve picture and sound on compatible devices. That means Apple Originals series and films can be viewed in the highest quality available on the platform. The app will be available not only on the latest Philips TVs from 2026. Support will also be provided for 2025 models and selected devices released in 2024. That's good news for people who bought a TV relatively recently and don't plan to replace their equipment. Titan OS is also developed beyond the Philips brand. The system can be found, among others, in selected TVs from AOC and JVC, which means their users can also expect new capabilities. At the moment it's not known whether the app on Titan OS will also allow purchasing and renting movies directly from Apple's library. On some third-party platforms that function isn't available. Regardless, adding Apple TV significantly boosts the appeal of the entire Titan OS ecosystem and shows the platform is increasingly competing with more recognised Smart TV systems.
