Apple is ramping up preparations for the autumn launch of new iPhones, and further leaks reveal plans for their design. This time reports have emerged of a significant increase in orders for vapour chambers, a modern cooling system used in high-performance mobile devices. The solution is intended to help keep temperatures lower during demanding tasks, such as gaming or running AI-based features. According to unofficial reports, the technology will appear not only in the Pro models but also in the first foldable iPhone. Apple is also said to be preparing stock for the anniversary iPhone 20, which will debut next year. All of these reports, however, come from unofficial sources and should be treated as rumours.

Vapor chambers set to arrive in Apple's flagship iPhones

According to information published by well-known leaker Fixed Focus Digital, Apple has significantly increased orders for vapor chambers used to cool smartphones. This solution allows heat to be more effectively drawn away from the processor and other components, which translates into more stable device performance. The leak suggests the new parts are being prepared primarily for Apple’s first foldable iPhone, tentatively called the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold. However, it’s possible the technology will also make its way into the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Earlier reports already indicated Apple plans to use larger vapor chambers specifically in its most advanced smartphones. The expanded cooling system is intended to meet the growing demands of modern processors and AI features. More efficient cooling may also reduce processor throttling caused by high temperatures, allowing devices to sustain peak performance for longer.

Leaks also mention an anniversary iPhone 20

Sources also say some of the new orders have been allocated to next year's iPhone 20, which is set to mark the 20th anniversary of Apple's smartphone debut. Earlier rumours suggest the company plans to produce about 10 million units of its first foldable iPhone. Production for the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to be as high as around 70 million units. Additionally, another tipster, Reptalica, published a CT scan of an alleged iPhone 18 Pro. The material suggests the use of an unusually large vapour chamber reaching almost to the top of the device. The leak also points to changes in the Dynamic Island module's design. According to this information, the screen cutout will be reduced by moving one of the Face ID components under the display or to the side of the device. Apple has not commented on these reports, so confirmation will have to wait until the official unveiling of the new models.

Latest rumours suggest Apple is heavily investing in vapour chamber technology, which could significantly improve cooling in future iPhones. If confirmed, the new solution will appear in the foldable iPhone, the iPhone 18 Pro series and likely in the anniversary iPhone 20. Official details will only be revealed at the presentation of the new devices.
