Which Mini LED should you buy? After all, not everyone is looking for an OLED. For many of you, the priority is high brightness, resistance to burn-in, and excellent visibility in a bright living room. And that’s exactly why this ranking was created – a compilation of the best Mini LED TVs currently available at very attractive prices. In this comparison, you will find models that not only have become cheaper but, above all, stand out in terms of picture quality that is hard to find in TVs in a similar price range! Some offer excellent HDR reproduction, others fantastic gaming support, or access to a vast array of applications. What’s the common denominator? These are models that we tested and that truly deliver. Of course, each of these models differs from the others, for example, in terms of the smart system, gaming features, or design. However, each of these models is currently a sensible choice for those who want something more than an average LCD – but not necessarily want to reach for an OLED.
Three Best MINI-LED TVs at a Reasonable Price!
Samsung QN85D / QNX1D
One of the cheapest Mini LEDs in Samsung's offering for 2024, and also one of the most interesting models within its price range. Although it has the fewest dimming zones among the top models of this brand, it stands out with an excellent image processor that compensates for hardware shortcomings. The QN85D handles contrast, upscaling, and light management in challenging HDR scenes very well. Its panel offers high brightness and a high 120Hz refresh rate. The Tizen system operates quickly, has a lot of apps and smart features – including PiP, integration with the SmartThings app, and a very convenient remote. It’s an ideal choice if you're looking for a compromise between quality and price in Samsung's ecosystem.
TCL C765 (MQLED85)
TCL C765, also known as MQLED85, is a model that offers exceptionally much within its price range. The Mini LED backlighting with local dimming and very good picture quality make this television compete with much more expensive models. Its biggest asset is the Google TV system, which provides the largest selection of applications among all platforms. It is also a great choice for gamers – it features HDMI 2.1, variable refresh rate, and very good (low) input lag. If you are looking for a universal television with Mini LED and Google TV – it is hard to find a better choice at this price.
Hisense U7NQ
Hisense U7NQ is one of the more balanced models in this comparison. It also offers Mini LED backlighting but is additionally equipped with features that the competition lacks – such as the ability to record to USB or a classic remote control with physical buttons. This TV is great for traditional use: watching TV, movies, and series, as well as occasional gaming. Its strong point is also the VIDAA system – simple, fast, with an increasingly larger base of applications. For someone who values functionality and a classic approach to operating typically “TV” features, the U7NQ will be a perfect choice.
*Note about the 75-inch variant: we are 100% sure that it has an IPS/ADS panel, so it does not apply to our test. Definitely regarding contrast and black level evaluation!
Exceptions to the rule: X90L and Q80D!
Sony X90L
Sony X90L is one of the two exceptions in this comparison, as it does not use Mini LEDs, but rather traditional Full Array LED backlighting. Nevertheless, it deserves a very high place in our TV ranking due to its excellent image processing quality. Sony has been showing for years that a good processor can work wonders – and the X90L is a prime example of that. It handles lower quality materials exceptionally well, improves the fluidity and detail of the image, and it operates on the Google TV system. If you are looking for something with a more cinematic flair, rather than necessarily the maximum number of zones – this model will be an excellent choice for those who do not always watch materials in the highest quality!
The Q80D is a "cheaper version" of the Mini LED QN85D – because instead of hundreds of zones, we have classic FALD backlighting here, but in a very sensible execution. Interestingly, its price in the 75” variant can be lower than some 75-inch models from lower series of TVs, like the much worse Samsung Q70D model with edge lighting. It is this price that makes the Q80D part of this comparison.
Although it doesn't have such impressive technical parameters, it handles HDR and contrast very well, and the additional motion smoother makes games and movies really look good. Added to that is the convenient Tizen system, a proven processor, and decent build quality. For many, it will be a great alternative if they don’t require an absolutely top display and want to buy a large TV for really reasonable money.
Biggest discounts? It's the Flagship MiniLEDs!
Samsung QN90D / QN92D
This is a true high-end Mini LED. The QN90D (or its counterpart QN92D) offers a very large number of dimming zones, impressive brightness (up to 2000 nits), and excellent picture quality even in challenging lighting conditions. The VA panel is supported by technology that improves viewing angles, and the TV itself runs on a refined Tizen system. It performs great both in the evening and in a sunny room. There’s also support for gamers and modern gaming features (144Hz, HDMI2.1, etc.). This is simply one of the strongest LCDs on the market, now available at a very good price. Its largest variants have even dropped by as much as 60% from the launch price!
TCL C855
Although TCL has already presented its new line of TVs for 2025, it's worth taking a look at last year's model – C855. The main reason? The prices of the new models are about 30% higher, and the C855 still offers excellent picture quality, impressive brightness, and a huge number of dimming zones. This is TCL's flagship (aside from the absurdly expensive series of 115-inch TVs 😉) for 2024, which performs great both as a TV for movies and series, and as a screen for gaming. Unlike many competitive models, the C855 runs on the Google TV system, which gives us access to the largest number of applications and smart features. Gamers can count on HDMI 2.1, low input lag, and a high screen refresh rate of 144Hz! If you want a premium-class TV but without the extra charge for this year's "new" label – this is one of the best options in the entire lineup.
