Conscious Purchase of Samsung OLED TVs
Buyers need to be aware that the Samsung OLED 2025 series is subject to a matrix lottery policy. This means that depending on the diagonal and distribution, in the same model (e.g., S90F) we may find a WOLED panel or a proprietary QD-OLED. These two technologies differ in subpixel structure: QD-OLED has an RGB (triangular) configuration, providing better color saturation at high brightness, while WOLED has an RGBW (with an additional white subpixel) configuration, designed to boost overall brightness.
How to Recognize the Matrix Type?
Camera Test (Most Reliable Method): Take a close-up with your phone of a white area on the screen. If you see a triangular subpixel arrangement, you are dealing with QD-OLED. If you see vertical RGBW stripes, it is WOLED.
Model Designation Analysis (When Purchasing Online): Check the two letters after the year letter "F":
S90F/S95F: The suffix FAT indicates QD-OLED; FAE indicates WOLED.
S85F: The suffix FAU indicates QD-OLED; FAE indicates WOLED.
