Samsung and Turkish Airlines join forces. A new era of "smart" travel!

Calendar 12/1/2025

Samsung and Turkish Airlines are introducing the Smart Tagged Baggage Service — a new solution that lets travelers track lost luggage using SmartThings Find and Galaxy SmartTag. Discover how BLE and UWB technology are transforming the travel experience.

Samsung Electronics has officially partnered with Turkish Airlines to streamline one of the most problematic aspects of travel — finding lost luggage. Starting December 1, the airline's passengers can utilize the new Smart Tagged Baggage Service, based on the SmartThings Find platform. This is the first such partnership in the industry, and Samsung clearly indicates that this is just the beginning.

How does the Smart Tagged Baggage Service work?

SmartThings Find uses BLE and UWB technologies, and its greatest strength is the network of over 700 million Galaxy devices acting as location "sensors." This allows baggage with an attached Galaxy SmartTag to be tracked almost anywhere in the world—quickly, accurately, and securely.

As part of the collaboration, Turkish Airlines will be able to more effectively locate lost baggage if the passenger includes a link with SmartTag location data in the report. This significantly shortens the process and makes it easier for airport staff to handle.

New feature: real luggage photo

The SmartThings Find app introduces an important new feature: Change Device Image. It allows you to register a photo of your own suitcase, making its identification in the system — and later at the airport — much simpler. A small detail, but it significantly reduces the risk of errors and speeds up finding luggage.

Start of a larger project

Turkish Airlines has become the launch partner, but Samsung is already announcing an expansion of the program to more carriers. Moreover, the Turkish operator wants to leverage SmartThings Find in other passenger services, wherever precise location can enhance comfort and efficiency. As Turkey's national carrier, the airline plans a long-term collaboration with Samsung, based on solutions utilizing artificial intelligence — both hardware and software.

Jaeyeon Jung, Vice President and Head of SmartThings at Samsung Electronics, emphasizes:

“Samsung is developing SmartThings Find through cross-industry partnerships to give users more peace of mind, regardless of where they are. We are pleased to offer more convenient and intuitive travel through our collaboration with Turkish Airlines.”

Kerem Kızıltunç, CIO of Turkish Airlines, adds:

“As an airline focused on digitalization, we are proud to partner with Samsung. Their technologies will significantly enhance the passenger experience. This is just the beginning of a broader transformation that aims to set new standards in aviation.”
