LG Electronics is preparing to launch one of the most spectacular televisions ever to hit the market. Following its debut in South Korea in October, LG Magnit Active Micro LED will arrive on the American market as early as January. This design is absolutely uncompromising – created for private home theaters, luxury residences, and customers for whom size and price are not a major concern.
136 inches and modular construction
The new Magnit is a true giant – 136 inches diagonally, over 3 meters wide and approximately 1.7 meters tall. The television has a modular design and consists of four 68-inch cabinets, in which smaller Micro LED modules with a resolution of 480 x 540 pixels and pixel pitch of 0.78 mm are placed. LG also boasts an improved design, which makes the connections between the panels nearly invisible.
Active Matrix – key innovation
The biggest change compared to previous Magnit models is the use of Active Matrix technology. This is the first Micro LED from LG utilizing such a solution. Unlike passive systems, where control occurs row by row or column by column, Active Matrix allows for independent control of each pixel. The result? Significantly better image precision, higher realism of scenes, and even more control over brightness and contrast. LG claims a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, which – at least on paper – places the Magnit Active Micro LED at the absolute forefront of the market.
MicroLED Better than OLED
MicroLED has long been regarded as a technology that surpasses OLED. The pixels are self-emissive, do not use organic materials, do not degrade, and can achieve significantly higher brightness. This means deeper blacks, powerful contrast, and no risk of burn-in. The new Magnit has also received the TÜV Rheinland Colour Consistency Wide Viewing certification, confirming consistent colors and contrast even at very wide viewing angles – which is crucial with a 136-inch display.
α9 AI Processor Gen 6 and 144 Hz
The heart of the television is the α9 AI Processor 6th generation, which is the most powerful chip from LG. The processor analyzes the image in real-time, recognizes faces, objects, backgrounds, and text, and optimizes them separately, reducing noise and enhancing clarity scene by scene. Onboard, we have:
Dolby Vision HDR
refresh rate up to 144 Hz
next-generation gaming features
HDMI with eARC
Sound is generated by a built-in 4.2 system with 100 W power, with speakers placed on the sides of the screen – although in this product class, no one is likely to get by without external audio.
Price? Astronomical
LG does not disclose an official price – neither in the USA nor in South Korea. According to industry leaks and reports cited, among others, by Google Gemini, the cost may exceed $250,000. This effectively limits the pool of potential buyers to the absolute elite. A more "down-to-earth" option is the announced smaller version of the Magnit Active Micro LED, planned for next year – although it is unlikely to reach the showrooms of the average consumer.
Premiere at CES 2026
Sales in the USA are set to begin on January 6, simultaneously with the presentation of the television at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. LG Magnit Active Micro LED is a showcase of power and a technological manifesto – a product that more defines the direction of market development than genuinely competes for mass sales. One thing is certain – this is what the future of televisions looks like, even if today only a few can afford it.
