Apple is ramping up preparations for the fall launch of new iPhones, and fresh leaks reveal plans for their design. This time, information has surfaced about a significant increase in orders for vapor chambers, a modern cooling system used in high-performance mobile devices. The solution is meant to help maintain lower temperatures during demanding tasks such as gaming or running AI-powered features. According to unofficial reports, the technology will appear not only in the Pro models but also in the first foldable iPhone. Apple is also reportedly building up inventory for the anniversary iPhone 20, which is set to debut next year. All of this comes from unofficial sources and should be treated as rumors.

Vapor chambers set to arrive in Apple's flagship iPhones

According to information published by well-known leaker Fixed Focus Digital, Apple has significantly increased orders for vapor chambers used to cool smartphones. This solution allows heat from the processor and other components to be dissipated more effectively, which translates into more stable device performance. The leak suggests the new parts are being prepared primarily for Apple's first foldable iPhone, provisionally called the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold. However, it cannot be ruled out that the technology will also appear in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models. Earlier reports already indicated that Apple plans to use larger vapor chambers in its most advanced smartphones. The expanded cooling system is intended to meet the growing demands of modern processors and AI features. More efficient cooling may also reduce thermal throttling (the lowering of processor clock speeds due to high temperatures). As a result, devices should be able to maintain peak performance for longer.

Leaks also mention the anniversary iPhone 20

Sources also say that part of the new orders has been allocated to next year’s iPhone 20, which is expected to mark the twentieth anniversary of Apple smartphones. Earlier rumors suggest the company plans to prepare about 10 million units of its first foldable iPhone. Production for the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to reach as high as roughly 70 million units. Additionally, another leaker, Reptalica, published a CT scan of the alleged iPhone 18 Pro. The material suggests the use of an unusually large vapor chamber extending almost to the top of the device. The leak also points to changes in the Dynamic Island module’s design. According to the information, the screen cutout could be reduced by moving one of the Face ID components under the display or to the side of the device. Apple has not commented on these reports, so confirmation will have to wait until the official unveiling of the new models.

Recent rumors suggest that Apple is heavily investing in vapor chamber technology, which could significantly improve cooling for future iPhones. If confirmed, the new solution will appear in the foldable iPhone, the iPhone 18 Pro series, and likely also in the anniversary iPhone 20. Official details won't be known until the presentation of the new devices.
