Apple accelerates its ecological efforts and shows that recycling can go hand in hand with technology.

Calendar 4/18/2026

Apple announced new results regarding its environmental strategy and is doing so with great flair. As much as 30 percent of the materials used in products from 2025 came from recycling, which is a record in the company's history and an important step towards achieving Apple's 2030 plan.

Recycling on a Large Scale

One of the greatest achievements is the complete transition to recycled cobalt in batteries and recovered rare earth elements in magnets. This is a huge change, as these materials are crucial for electronics production and at the same time difficult to obtain in an eco-friendly way. Additionally, Apple has introduced changes in the production of components, such as printed circuit boards, where it also uses secondary raw materials. The company emphasizes that the entire supply chain must meet high environmental and social standards.

End of plastic in packaging

Apple has also achieved one of its more prominent goals: removing plastic from packaging. Currently, products are packaged in paper materials that can be easily recycled at home. This is the result of many years of work on alternatives to plastic components. Over the past five years, the company has avoided the consumption of thousands of tons of plastic, which translates to hundreds of millions of "saved" bottles.

Energy, Water, and the Future

The company is also investing in renewable energy and water conservation. Its suppliers generate tens of millions of megawatt-hours of clean energy, and Apple is gradually reducing its carbon footprint; emissions are already more than 60 percent lower than in 2015. At the same time, new recycling technologies are being developed to allow for the recovery of even more materials from used devices.

Apple shows that ecology is becoming a key element in the development of technology, although the question still remains as to how much impact these actions have on the real market.
