The end of the year is a time when various platforms present their summaries à la Spotify Wrapped. This time, YouTube is entering the game – but not the music one. The service has just launched its first-ever summary based solely on the videos watched on the main platform, regardless of YouTube Music.
What does the new YouTube Recap include?
Users will receive up to 12 personalised cards showing:
the most-watched channels,
dominant interest topics,
changes in viewing habits,
the assigned "viewer personality type."
Among the viewer types, we will find, among others:
Skill Builder — people who watch content that develops skills,
Sunshiner — those who prefer positive materials,
Trailblazer — viewers looking for original content and breaking the mould.
There are also types such as Wonder Seeker, Connector, and Dreamer.
Although the Recap on the main platform also includes music compilations, more detailed data regarding tracks and artists can still be found in the YouTube Music app. The new summary is available from today for users in North America and will be globally released this week. It can be found on the YouTube homepage or in the "Your" tab, both on mobile devices and computers.
YouTube emphasises that the feature was developed at the clear request of users and went through over 50 concept tests before reaching its final form.
What's new in Apple Music Replay 2025?
Apple has also released this year's edition of Apple Music Replay, its counterpart to Wrapped. This year, the summary gains new metrics regarding listening habits. In addition to the classic lists of favourite songs, artists and albums, Replay also shows:
Discovery — new artists discovered by the user,
Loyalty — artists the listener returns to most often,
Comebacks — creators who have returned to rotation after a break.
Users will also see:
the total number of listening minutes,
the number of artists they listened to,
the longest streak of listens for a single artist,
favourite genres and detailed statistics for the year.
Replay can be launched from the "Home" tab in Apple Music. Apple also allows you to browse monthly summaries and previous years, as well as the "Replay All Time" list – the most played tracks since joining the service. Artists will receive additional metrics, including increased listenership and year-on-year comparisons.
Replay 2025 appears a week after YouTube Recap and on the same day as the Amazon Music roundup.
