Windows 11 without intrusive ads? Microsoft announces a calmer system

Calendar 3/23/2026

Microsoft may finally sort out one of the biggest grievances with Windows 11. The company promises a system that will be less intrusive, calmer, and less focused on 'selling' its own services. This is in response to years of criticism from users who have had enough of constant suggestions and pop-up proposals.

Microsoft admits: there were too many ads

Windows 11 has gradually changed into something more than just an operating system. It has become a platform that regularly promotes Edge, OneDrive, Microsoft 365, and Copilot. Suggestions in the Start menu, messages during setup, and various “tips” started to irritate users. Now Microsoft openly talks about the need to create a “calmer and cleaner system”. This is a clear signal that the company has noticed the problem and wants to fix it.

What will change in Windows 11

The most important change is simple: the system will try to sell things to the user less frequently. Fewer promotions in the Start menu and fewer unnecessary notifications are just the beginning. Microsoft is also working on improving performance and simplifying the interface to make everything work faster and be less distracting. There are also other changes planned, such as the possible removal of the requirement to log in to a Microsoft account during installation, the return of the movable taskbar, or better optimisation for devices with 8 GB of RAM. The company may also limit the way it integrates AI so that Copilot is not so intrusive.

Microsoft is clearly changing its approach. Instead of pushing more services, it wants to focus on a cleaner and more user-friendly experience. Advertisements are unlikely to disappear entirely, but if there are indeed fewer of them, Windows 11 could finally become a system that does not interfere with work.
