The winter streaming season is shaping up to be a battle of the giants. Apple TV+, HBO Max, and Netflix are preparing three powerful premieres that will debut one after another — like pearls on a string.
First up is “Pluribus” from the creator of Breaking Bad, followed by the long-awaited finale of Stranger Things 5, and lastly — a return to Westeros in the series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”.
“Pluribus” – a mystery from Albuquerque (Apple TV+)
Premiere: 7 November 2025
Platform: Apple TV+
Format: 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos
The new series from Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, is one of Apple’s most enigmatic projects. “Pluribus” (from Latin “many”) is set to be a sci-fi drama about “the most unhappy man on Earth”. The story takes place in Albuquerque, and Apple is building anticipation with a series of mysterious clips and a phone number that can be called to hear a disturbing message.
Yesterday, the first teaser was shown — and it looks like Apple is once again aiming for a dark, philosophical narrative with cinematic grandeur.
“Stranger Things 5” – the end of the Hawkins era (Netflix)
Premieres: 26th November, 25th December and 31st December 2025
Format: 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos
This is the finale. Eight episodes concluding the saga of Stranger Things will be divided into three parts. Netflix has confirmed that it is its most expensive production in history — each episode cost between 50 to 60 million dollars, and the length is closer to films than series (90–120 minutes). After a three-and-a-half-year break, Hawkins is back in a big way.
Will the finale meet the huge expectations of the fans? One thing is certain — it will be Netflix's loudest premiere in 2025.
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” – a return to Westeros (HBO Max)
Premiere: 19 January 2026
Format: 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos
After House of the Dragon, it's time for another chapter in the Game of Thrones universe. George R. R. Martin returns with a new tale, this time set one hundred years before the events of the original saga. The series will tell the story of an unusual duo — Ser Duncan the Tall and his young squire, known as Egg.
The first season is set to consist of six episodes and, as HBO promises, will once again offer a monumental spectacle, full of political intrigue and dragons.
Winter Streaming Offensive
The pandemic and writers' strikes slowed down the industry, but the year 2025 shows that the sector has finally got back into shape.
After a summer revival, it is the winter that will bring the biggest titles – and it looks like Apple, HBO and Netflix are going head-to-head for viewers' attention.
Which of these titles will you choose – the dark "Pluribus", the epic "Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", or the nostalgic finale of "Stranger Things"?
One thing is for sure – it won't be dull this winter.
