Direct Connect allows you to create a wireless home cinema system
The most important new feature in the update is the Direct Connect platform. The solution was showcased alongside the latest Bravia 9 II and Bravia 7 II televisions, but it is now also available for older models. The system allows you to wirelessly connect the television to selected Sony rear speakers and subwoofers. In practice, the television takes on the role of the central and front audio channels, while the additional speakers handle spatial effects and bass. This enables users to create an extended home cinema system without running additional cables through the living room. Sony primarily targets this solution at individuals looking for a simple way to improve sound quality. The setup is intended to be quick and intuitive, with the entire system operating as a cohesive ecosystem. The feature is included in the flagship model A95L and in the series Bravia 5, Bravia 7, Bravia 8, Bravia 8 II and Bravia 9. All these televisions use the MediaTek Pentonic 1000 chipset, which provides appropriate support for new capabilities. The update is already available in Europe, North America, and other regions of the world. For many users, this could be one of the most exciting changes in Sony televisions for quite some time, especially as it does not require the purchase of a new receiver.
