In 2025, high-end televisions can amaze with their picture and sound... but they can just as effectively empty your wallet. It's no wonder that there is increasing interest in "mid-range" models, which are entering stores with technologies once reserved for flagship devices. And this is exactly the trend that Sharp aims for with its new series Aquos Mini-LED JP7000.
The equipment will debut at the beginning of next month in Europe and the USA, and Sharp promises "a new dimension of affordable picture and sound quality". Prices have not yet been revealed, but the manufacturer suggests that they will be tempting. We will have four sizes to choose from: 50”, 55”, 65” and 75” – everything you need for the living room.
Mini-LED + Quantum Dot for “normal” money
The market for cheap Mini-LEDs is just starting to pick up speed. In China, the Dreame V3000 costs from 3999 yuan (~£428), which is already a great price for such technology. It’s no wonder that many people are waiting for the JP7000 – because Sharp combines here:
Mini-LED (more precise dimming zones, higher contrast)
Quantum Dots (more natural, fuller colours)
Dolby Vision and HDR10
Aquos Smooth Motion for smoother 4K
In practice, this means: contrast, colours and HDR that a regular LCD cannot provide.
But there is one downside: 60 Hz
JP7000 offers a refresh rate of 60 Hz, which is a bit disappointing given the rising standard of 120 Hz in the mid-range segment.
For films – OK.
For sports – acceptable.
For gamers – quite inadequate.
If someone is looking for an affordable Mini-LED primarily for gaming, they would be better off considering, for example, the Hisense U7N or the Philips MLED910, which cost below a thousand pounds in the UK. Nevertheless – not much has been sacrificed in the JP7000 apart from the higher frequency.
Sound from Harman Kardon and Google TV on board
Sharp adds a solid audio set:
2×12 W
tuning Harman Kardon
Dolby Atmos
On the back, we have among others:
2× HDMI (one with eARC)
USB
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Software? Google TV, which is the best you can get in smart TVs today - fast, comprehensive, with access to all major platforms and thousands of applications.
Almost frameless design
JP7000 looks decidedly modern. Sharp has opted for:
ultra-slim bezels
a minimalist aluminium central stand
the “picture floating in the air” style
This is the type of television that looks more expensive than its price suggests.
The premiere is just around the corner – perfectly timed for the holidays
Sharp confirms that Aquos Mini-LED JP7000 will hit the stores at the beginning of next month. Will it be a holiday hit? If the price is indeed "affordable," and the specifications maintain the quality promised on paper – there is a good chance.
Who is this television for? For those wanting Mini-LED without paying an extra few thousand, for viewers of films and series in HDR, for those who want good image quality, Google TV, and an attractive design. However, it is not for demanding gamers (60 Hz).
If "a good but not budget-busting television for the holidays" is on your wish list, then Sharp JP7000 is definitely worth keeping on your radar.
