Samsung's mysterious OLED has hit the shops. The S95H model is now on sale.

Samsung has quietly launched another OLED TV. It's the S95H model, which has just started appearing in European stores. And from the outset one thing must be made clear: it is neither the Samsung S99H nor the same S95H known from the US market. The new model looks more like the European follow-up to the very successful S95F. So we get a top-tier TV, but in a slightly different guise than the flagship S99H.

S95H isn't the S99H. Samsung has produced a completely different model

The biggest difference is already visible in the design. The S95H uses the design known from the S95F series, namely a slim casing and an external One Connect module. That's important, because you won't find that on the S99H. On board there's also a matte screen with a Glare Free coating, one of Samsung's most distinctive solutions in recent generations of OLEDs. Added to that is the NQ4 AI Gen3 processor, the top unit responsible for scaling, motion smoothing and overall image processing. The same chip is also used in the pricier S99H.

Available in popular sizes of 55, 65 and 77 inches, the TV is to use a QD-OLED panel, which is the same technology responsible for very high brightness, wide colour volume and the distinctively saturated picture in Samsung's best OLEDs.

The 48-inch version is the biggest new addition, but also a completely different TV

However, the most interesting new addition is the 48-inch variant. Until now Samsung had not offered such a small size in its top OLED range, so its arrival is a significant change. You do need to be careful, though, because the smaller model differs from the larger versions. Instead of a QD-OLED panel it uses a WOLED one. At the moment it is unclear whether this is LG Display's latest Tandem OLED design or a conventional WOLED panel.

That's not the end of the differences. The 48-inch version does not come with the One Connect module. Paradoxically, it's the only one to get the AI Football Mode Pro feature, which isn't available on the larger screen sizes.

S95H looks set to be the successor to one of Samsung’s best OLEDs

The rest of the specifications look very strong. The Samsung S95H has a 4.2.2 audio system with 70 W output, a similar setup to the manufacturer’s flagship models. So we can expect not only an excellent picture, but also fairly sophisticated sound for an OLED TV. All in all, the S95H appears to be a direct successor to the S95F, just with updated specs and a new processor. That’s good news, because its predecessor was one of Samsung’s most successful OLEDs in recent years. The bar is set high, and the new model already looks very promising on paper.
