LG UltraGear evo – new monitors for gamers are set to make a hot debut at CES 2026!

Calendar 12/29/2025

LG UltraGear evo is a new line of gaming monitors unveiled ahead of CES 2026. The GX9, GM9, and G9 models feature Tandem WOLED and 5K Mini-LED panels, refresh rates of up to 330 Hz, and AI-powered features designed for the most demanding gamers.

LG Electronics continues its series of announcements ahead of CES 2026. This time, the manufacturer officially unveiled three new monitors from the UltraGear evo line, which clearly demonstrate the direction the premium segment for gamers is heading. Among the new products is a monitor featuring the latest Tandem WOLED panel, as well as a model described as the world's first Mini-LED monitor with a 5K resolution.

LG UltraGear GX9 – ultrawide OLED without compromise

The most advanced model in the new series is the LG UltraGear GX9. This is a 39-inch ultrawide 5K2K monitor (5120 × 2160) with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a gentle curvature of 1500R. It features the latest Tandem WOLED panel, which combines extremely high image quality with an incredibly fast response time of just 0.003 ms. The monitor offers native refresh rates of 165 Hz, which in Dual Mode can be increased to 330 Hz, at the cost of lowering the resolution to Wide Full HD. The GX9 has the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification and, thanks to OLED technology, provides perfect blacks and very high contrast.

LG also heavily emphasises the presence of AI-based features – 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimisation and AI Sound, which are designed to enhance image and sound quality without putting additional strain on the graphics card. The GX9 clearly targets gamers who want a single monitor for everything – from e-sports to AAA games and creative work.

LG UltraGear GM9 – the world's first 5K Mini-LED

The second novelty is the LG UltraGear GM9, a 27-inch Mini-LED monitor with a 5K resolution – the first such model on the market. Mini-LED is associated with very high brightness, but also with blooming and halo effects. However, LG claims to have effectively mitigated these issues. The panel offers as many as 2,304 local dimming zones, and additionally, it employs Zero Optical Distance technology, which reduces the distance between the LEDs and the surface of the screen. The result is better light control, higher contrast, and fewer artefacts around bright objects.

The GM9 has VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, and its peak brightness reaches 1,250 nits, which clearly exceeds the capabilities of current OLED monitors. Like the GX9, this model supports Dual Mode, allowing switching between 165 Hz and 330 Hz depending on needs.

LG UltraGear G9 – gigantic immersion 5K2K

The third and most unusual model is the LG UltraGear G9. This is a massive 52-inch 5K2K monitor with a native refresh rate of 240 Hz and unusual proportions of 12:9. This format provides the same height of image as a 42-inch television but in a significantly wider, panoramic layout.

The monitor has an aggressive curve of 1000R, which is designed to maximise the feeling of immersion in gaming. LG states that the G9 is 33% wider than standard UHD monitors. This model has a VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification and – unlike the others – does not offer Dual Mode, as it constantly operates at 240 Hz without the need to lower the resolution. The manufacturer has not disclosed the type of panel used, but all indications suggest that we are dealing with an advanced LCD panel.

Premiere at CES 2026

LG has not yet provided prices or availability dates for the new UltraGear evo monitors. We should learn more details during the CES 2026 trade show, which starts on 6 January. One thing is certain – LG is raising the bar significantly in the premium gaming monitor segment and is clearly preparing to compete for the most demanding gamers.
