LG Electronics has announced a major update to the LG Gaming Portal – a gaming platform available on Smart TVs with the webOS system. As part of the new update, several new games are being added to the service, some of which can be controlled exclusively with the Magic Remote without the need to connect a console or additional controller.
Just Dance Now on LG televisions
One of the most interesting innovations is Just Dance Now, which has arrived on LG televisions with webOS 22 or newer. The game is already available in the USA, Australia, Sweden, and Norway, and will be launching in additional markets over the coming weeks. This is the result of a collaboration between LG and Ubisoft. Players can compete against each other by performing dance choreographies without the use of a console. Movements are tracked by motion sensors in the Magic Remote control, which simultaneously supports multiple players.
Voice-Controlled Games from ChooseTV
LG is also expanding its range of voice-controlled games through a partnership with Volley. Titles such as the popular quiz show Jeopardy! and original productions like Song Quiz are making their way to the webOS platform. These are games designed for social play in the living room, where all interaction takes place via voice commands.
Asphalt Legends Unite and new cloud games
Racing fans can also reach for Asphalt Legends Unite, which has arrived on LG televisions in the USA thanks to a partnership with the Blacknut platform. The game is available for free with ads and unlocks all cars and tracks from the very beginning. Blacknut is also introducing a new title, My Little Puppy – an adventure game telling the emotional story of a dog growing up and experiencing the various stages of its life.
LG also showcased a new app, LG Mobile Gamepad, for Android and iOS. This app allows users to turn their smartphone into a fully-fledged game controller for games supported by the Gaming Portal, eliminating the need to purchase an additional gamepad.
LG Gaming Portal – over 4 thousand games
LG Gaming Portal debuted at the beginning of this year on the webOS system and is currently available in 30 countries. The service works on OLED, QNED, as well as selected LG gaming monitors with webOS 6.0 or newer. The platform launched in collaboration with Xbox, offering access to the Xbox app and the Game Pass Ultimate library, as well as other cloud gaming services. In August, LG added support for games in 4K at 120 Hz.
According to the manufacturer, Gaming Portal now provides access to over 4,000 cloud-streamed games and over 600 casual titles, which can be launched on an LG television using just the Magic Remote control.
