First impressions of: LG OLED W6 (2026): Have we seen the best and prettiest television of the year?

Calendar 3/20/2026

We have seen the new line of LG televisions for 2026 with our own eyes and we have some conclusions for you that will "straighten out" your view of the offer from the Korean giant. Instead of duplicating marketing slides like others do, we prefer to focus on what really stands out when you stand in front of these screens. We begin with the model that evokes the most emotion, namely the LG OLED W6!

The design of the LG W6 is P H E N O M E N A L

LG OLED W6. This model, known as the wallpaper television (wallpaper), returns to the portfolio after a few years' absence and we must admit that it is stunning in person. This is a top-of-the-range device – Premium with a capital P.

The most striking feature is its slimness: according to the manufacturer's data, its thickness is just under 9.9 mm. For comparison, we have set it against the latest iPhone, and it turns out that in some places the phone can resemble a pear. In order for such a thin screen to adhere perfectly to the wall, it is mounted on two special hooks (each requires 4 screws). What totally surprised us was the device's frame – it has been finished with ebony wood. It looks stunning, especially since at the presentation LG showcased it against a glass wall. The ebony is not just for decoration; the wood has excellent thermal conductivity properties, which is crucial for cooling such a bright display in such an extremely thin design.

Tandem OLED 2nd gen. enters the fray

Under the hood (or rather, under the wood 😉) lie specific technological changes. In the W6, we will find a new generation of the Tandem OLED (2nd generation) panel supported by Hyper Diamond Color technology. We didn't just rely on the manufacturer's claims - we verified this on our test benches.

  • We have recorded an improvement of approximately 10% compared to the G5 model in our HDR testing procedure.

  • In the brightest scenes, the difference reached a maximum of 400 nits compared to the first generation of Tandem OLED matrices.

This is a real progress that is visible to the naked eye. Of course, this is more about evolution than revolution, but it’s excellent that LG has managed to fit such parameters into such a slim chassis.

Our comments: Two downsides you need to know when choosing LG OLED W6

Unfortunate power supply

Due to engineering decisions that had to be made during the construction of the W6; the power cable exits from the side of the device (on the right side, looking from the back), rather than centrally. It may sound like nitpicking (and you might have a point), but most people prepare cable conduits right in the middle of the wall. There is no room on the back of the W6 for special channels, so if you want to run the cable to the centre, you have to accept that the television will be slightly protruding from the wall at the bottom edge.

No physical connectors

The W6 is an almost completely wireless model (aside from the power supply). Everything connects to the new, slimmer Zero Connect module (4 HDMI 2.1 ports). The problem? There isn't a single HDMI socket in the television itself.

Our tests of similar solutions among competitors, as well as foreign reviews of the wireless LG M5 model, clearly show that transmitting images wirelessly generates an increase in input lag, sometimes even 3- or 4-fold compared to wired transmission. Of course, for most users, the difference between 5 ms and 20 ms is practically imperceptible, and no one would throw their controller at the wall for this reason. It's just important to be aware that this wireless module is not magic. If you place it a few meters further away, behind the sofa, and plug your PS5 in there, don't expect the latency to stay at its best level.

But what are we getting at if it’s not that much of a problem?

It's just a shame that LG did not include even one physical port in the television. We’re not even talking about an HDMI port, but USB-C with DP (we have already seen such a port among competitors), which would have allowed for the sleek design of the W6 to be preserved. If such a port were present, gamers would have peace of mind and certainty that they are always getting the absolute best parameters that this panel can offer. And without one port in the TV, that certainty always slips away.

Is it worth waiting for the LG W6?

The LG OLED W6 is, in many respects, phenomenal. The new second-generation Tandem OLED panel guarantees a stunning image that will undoubtedly impress during our targeted tests in the lab. This could be one of the best, if not the best, televisions of 2026... however, aspiring to such a title, it must face our strict evaluation 😉. One must be aware of certain compromises, such as the specific power mounting and the lack of physical connections, which you simply have to accept when choosing this model.

We don’t want to bore you with one large monolith of text (that will be reserved for our full review). In our upcoming articles in the “First Impressions” series, we will take a look at other LG models from the 2026 line and new features, in order to share these technical tidbits with you. And soon, Maciej will record a full report for you, in which he will share his thoughts on the entire new LG series!
